We should throw a public funeral for her face:
To give Lawrence credit, in a new interview with the Cut she ’fesses up to a breast enlargement and goes on to list her plans for the future, including a facelift and buccal fat removal. She already uses “baby Botox” but avoids fillers as they hinder the facial movement, which has traditionally been associated with acting. She has brought the same plain dealer attitude to having her face mucked about with that she previously brought to getting drunk and falling over, in a world where other Jennifers as different as Aniston and Lopez deny point blank that they have ever dabbled in cosmetic surgery and that their youthful looks are down to sleep and water. Surely we should admire this consistency, this character? ✍️ @BoozeAndFagz Article: spectator.com/article/rip-je…

Amidst all the decay and desolation, a small green shoot of culture:
“It’s the only class I took at Harvard where people would call each other out for not having done the reading.” Harvard students are lining up to take Hum 10: “Applications (essays required) shot up 40% this fall with 180 incoming freshmen vying for 90 spots.” “The class is definitely not for padding the GPA. Students read a hefty book a week and write regular essays. There is no pass/fail option. Digital devices are verboten, and attendance is taken in every lecture (pink slips for those who arrive late).” “In their applications and in interviews, students expressed the urge to be forced to tackle classics they otherwise wouldn’t read, the need to combat frayed attention spans and the desire for an antidote to The Machine. Several mentioned with disdain that people who aren’t in the class wondered why they didn’t ‘just Chat the books,’ i.e., use AI.”

Unpopular opinion: the post-war ruling establishment was actually pretty decent on the whole. Western societies were pretty well-run from the 1950: through the 1990s. Since then the moral and intellectual calibre of our ruling class have plunged dramatically. People sometimes blame our political decay on populism and the rising influence of the lower classes. But this is no more than a partial explanation. Even the most exclusive, rarified circles of our ruling elite have suffered a catastrophic collapse in competence. The root of it all is probably the internet and social media, which have made people lazier in their thinking, less rigorous in their studies, distracted by easy and superficial allurements, more susceptible to fads and peer pressure, and performative and exhibitionist to a degree they never were before. It’s hard to believe the advent of the internet in the 1990s could have felt us such a civilization-ending blow, but increasingly it’s looking like this is what happened.

Beauty standards have become generic and characterless just like our culture in general. Mother kg is memorable, nothing is elevated, nothing aspires to please more than the lowest common denominator of the globalized, proletarianized, consumerist public. The new look of Jennifer Lawrence is entirely suited to this milieu.
Tragic. I would have no idea this was Jennifer Lawrence without the post below mentioning it. She underwent plastic surgery to remove all her most distinctive features. I wish women would stop doing this to themselves 😕

In the United States, white people earn significantly more than black people on average. But as soon as you compare blacks and whites with the same IQ, that gap disappears like magic... This is one of the clearest pieces of evidence that systemic racism isn't what's driving the raw overall income disparity between the two groups.

Aesthetically Alexandre de Moraes must easily be in any Top 5 International Villains list. Liquid Castlevania-core in his iconic trademark cape. Where else would you get shadowy éminence grise lusotropical commissars who dress like vampires? Nowhere else but Brazil - what a treat
Judge Alexandre de Moraes signed an order demanding Bolsonaro hand over his passport WITHIN SEVEN MINUTES of the close of voting. Before votes had even been counted. What did he know about the vote results that enabled him to make this order within seven minutes of polls closing - seemingly confident that Bolsonaro had already lost?

lol this is great. There’s not a lot that Canada does better than America, but the lack of separation between the executive and legislative branches, whereby the government sits in parliament and must actively defend its record, is one area where it does. Also, consider just how fun and exciting this is, compared to the snooze fest of an American congressional sitting.

A bleak assessment of Brazil:
I Left Brazil, A Stone Cold Analysis A lot of people are leaving Brazil after the election results. Lula already promised to censor social media harder in his first speech, the market collapsed 20%, and there is widespread desperation among the right-wing half of the population. There's a lot of speculation about Brazil's reasons for voting Lula, what did Bolsonaro do wrong, etc.... etc... etc.... Most of it is just bonkers. So let me be brutal. The two most important factors determining the destiny of any people are 1) Their intelligence distribution 2) Their Biogeography In this order. It's not just the average IQ, you need a minimum of people above 110 to run a good society, and a minimum above 130 to run a great society. Society is much worse if you have some 79 than if you have too many 88s. You can work with 88s, you can't work with 79s. The military won't conscript that low because people are more problem than solution and can't generate more value than they cost by existing. Brazil has a lot smart people, few very smart people (hi how are you?), and a monumental amount of retards and idiots. To make it worse, the retards and idiots reproduce more than the smart people, and we the very smart people move out of the country because our economy has no role for actually brilliant people. Brazil's IQ peaked long ago and has been steadily declining for decades. The election can be seen as a competition for the 81 to 85IQ vote. Outside the big cities, most people above vote Bolsonaro, most people below vote Lula. The battle is in that range. This time, Bolsonaro won the house and senate, Lula won the presidency for 4th time. Largely speaking Brazilians are retarded and envious. The blacks and indigenous whose IQ is below 80 envy everything about the whites and mixed who have more resources like cellphones and so on. The whites envy other whites who are either prettier, or smarter, or richer, or both. In school, and I'm at the elite of the elite of Brazil, top 0.2% school, people envied me for being smart, and tried to push me down, they envied others for being beautiful. Brazilians lack agency. Brazil is only a free separated country because the son revolted against the father, we didn't have a liberation war. Brazil only freed the slaves because everyone else did and England forced our hand. Brazilians are envious, retarded, and non agentic. Brazilians are moved by outside forces, not compelled by internal drive. Brazilians inherited the 3 worse traits of the three cultural groups of which it is made. 1) From Latin whites (Portuguese, Italian, Spaniards) it inherited nobility culture, crony capitalism and extraction culture. 2) From African people, magical thinking, imediatism, envy. 3) From Indigenous people, insolence, total resistence to work, and lazyness. That's the people. Roberto Campos is the anthropologist who studied us and said it. I'm just the messenger. Then there's the biogeography. Brazil is enormous, the rivers are turned the wrong way, hard to navigate and shit, the people are living by the beach and not integrated economically with the rest of south america or the rest of Brazil itself. Brazil is far away from the economy of earth, so everything is expensive due to transport. In short, Brazil got the short stick of Intelligence, and the short Stick of biogeography. There is literally nothing anyone can do to stop the fall of Brazil. If ASI doesn't save Brazil, it will continue to decline forever. The best people leave (hi how are you?), the worse people stay, the worst people reproduce. There's 40 million Angolans in Brazil, just passed Portugal as the biggest genetic group. Look at Angola and you'll see it is not a peak industrial and service giant with highly advanced tech. It is a communist shithole of hell. That is where Brazil will necessarily go for biological reasons, since intelligence is biological, and biogeographical reasons, because we are far from everyone. I knew all this in 2014, and I left. I abandoned the sinking ship and I thank myself every day in the mirror for being smart enough to do it. Thank you, past Diego, you truly are the best ever. You are the man. Thank you. A lot of people now in 2026 are choosing to leave. They must, they should. There is no salvation inside Brazil, because nobody, no matter how well-intended and strong-willed, can defeat the curse of bad biogeography and low intelligence. It has never been done and it never will. People are trying to find an explanation for the election and why Lula won. That's wrong. Flavio was supposed to win, but Lula is one in a century charismatic, propped up by the growth of China in his first 2 mandates and became a legend in the minds of Brazilians. So in the battle for those between 81 and 85 IQ, Lula loomed large in their imaginarium, and he won. There is nothing that needs explanation. Lula is over, if it was anyone else Flavio would have won. The right did everything right, and it was not enough. Finding reasons now is genuinely wrong, because victory was not possible. Maybe 4 years from now in Lula's absence the country will be more right wing. But it will also be 1 IQ point lower. Because us the 130+s will have moved out, and because the retards and imbeciles will have reproduced more than the midwits. There is no escaping this. This is destiny. So to everyone considering leaving Brazil. Obviously, get the fuck out of there immediately. Go to any country with a better IQ distribution and a better biogeography, with less envy, less magical thinking, and less insolence. Everything will improve. You will miss your family, but everything else will improve. I left Brazil and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is your chance to do the same. End the magical thinking. Even if your political side had won, it would never in a million year defeat the curse of a bad IQ distribution and a bad biogeography on top of it. Brazil will never rise, unless AI changes the game completely. And when it does, we can all go back and enjoy it! :) Leave. Don't hesitate, just leave.

I think they mean “courage limitations” rather than “ethics restrictions.”
This is an incredibly unfortunate missed opportunity from @23andMeResearch. I can't think of a single good reason why "ethics restrictions" should prevent researchers from analyzing cognitive traits.

There's some evidence east asians are resistant to blue light and how it can effect on circadian rhythms. Which may explain heavy bright white interior lights at home, LED cities in China or asian restaurants. And their heavy screen and cell phone use isn't disrupting them like it is disrupting other people.
Nope. I’ve never seen a nation that loves extremely bright neon white lights as much as Japan. Pics are avg living rooms. Luxury hotels can give off very wrong impressions.

The Brazilian election was stolen:

🇫🇷 France's protests are turning into something MUCH BIGGER than a weekend of unrest. Huge crowds are flooding the streets over soaring living costs and concerns about democracy. In Paris alone, police counted 110,000 demonstrators. And the movement isn't winding down. Protest organizers are already building toward a nationwide GENERAL STRIKE on November 5. What started as street protests is becoming a sustained challenge to the French government. Writer: Oliver

The older you get the more you realize that politics are psychology: the vast majority of people believe what they do as an extension of their ingrained personalities. They don’t reason from first principles, or adjust policy based on data: they’re woke lefties or tradcons or AI doomers or accelerationists because the political shoe fits the mental foot. Few ever change sides, and if so only after contact with the results of their politics (and usually not even then). Because to do so wouldn’t be updating an opinion, but changing their entire self, and nobody intentionally casts themselves into that confusing abyss.
Dario Amodei was so worried about Y2K that his high school teacher still remembers it decades later. He’s been a doomer for much longer than I thought!

This is what strong evidence looks like:
The decline of the hedgehog is mainly caused by the huge recent expansion of the badger population. In both time and place there is a strong negative correlation between badger numbers and hedgehog numbers. The scientific evidence that an increase in Mr Brock may well be the chief cause of Mrs Tiggywinkle’s demise is overwhelming. There’s the direct evidence – the hollowed-out prickle-bearing skins left behind after a badger eats a hedgehog. Only badgers can open a hedgehog after it rolls up in defence with prickles on the outside. Foxes and dogs cannot. Badger predation is often found to be the main cause of hedgehog death in studies in this country. There’s the timing evidence. The decline in hedgehogs coincided with the rise in badgers since the latter’s protection began in the 1970s and was strengthened in the 1990s. Anecdotally, there are clear-cut cases to show this is likely to be cause and effect, not coincidence. Kew Gardens had a thriving hedgehog population until the mid 1980s when badgers first arrived there. Today, says the Royal Botanic Gardens’ website, “Kew is teeming with badgers”. There are now more than 20 badger setts and hedgehogs are hardly ever seen, and if they are don’t last long. Habitat change and development cannot be the cause in Kew, because there has not been any. There’s the spatial evidence. Throughout England hedgehogs (great worm eaters) have vanished from worm-rich pastureland, where badgers thrive, and cling on only in suburban gardens and amenity grassland, where badgers so far have not penetrated much. Even here, as one study put it: “the probability of hedgehog occurrence in suburban habitats declined towards zero in areas of high badger density.” As a general rule, wherever badgers are present at a density higher than about one main sett every four square kilometres, hedgehogs are absent. In most of rural England, sett density is two or three times higher. There’s the behavioural evidence. Back in the 1990s, ecologists discovered that the smell of badgers alone is enough to deter hedgehogs from entering an area. And hedgehogs released into areas of excellent habitat high-tailed it out of there if they smelt badger. They do not wait to be eaten. There’s the international evidence. Sweden has also blamed its decline in hedgehogs on rising badger numbers. In the Netherlands, scientists reported this yearthat hedgehogs are now confined mostly to urban areas, despite roads and development, because of the spread of badgers in rural areas. There’s the experimental evidence, which is the clincher. The randomized badger control trials, carried out between 1998 and 2006 in 30 different parts of the country, provided an opportunity to see what happened to hedgehog numbers if badger numbers were reduced. In pasture land, where hedgehogs are mostly extinct, there was of course little effect. But in “amenity grassland” – parks, lawns, gardens, playing fields etc – there was a dramatic explosion in hedgehog numbers in those areas where badgers were culled: hedgehog density almost trebledfrom an average of 0.9 per hectare to 2.4 per hectare in just five years. By contrast in the control areas where no badgers were culled, the hedgehog density remained unchanged at 0.3 per hectare over the same period.  So we know one way to increase hedgehog numbers: reduce badger numbers. No other approach has been demonstrated to have such an effect. Given that badgers are highly effective predators of bumble bees (those who try to study bumble bees complain that most of the nests they find get dug out and eaten by badgers) as well as of ground nesting birds, and that they carry bovine tuberculosis, there is little doubt that lower badger densities would be good for the ecology of the British countryside as well as for farming. There is nothing natural about the density at which badgers and foxes live in Britain today.
