It’s always been the third quarter. Maybe this is what Joe and Troy are fighting about
25 years ago today (2001): It isn’t 1 vs. 2 like a year ago, but No. 2 Oklahoma at No. 3 Nebraska is again the biggest game of the regular season. A failed Sooners trick play earlier is matched by a successful one from the Huskers, and Nebraska exacts revenge with a 20-10 win.

Was able to read through @5thDownCFB’s new CFB book American Odyssey over the last month. Certainly consider myself a connoisseur, but I still learned a ton. Deep insight into the full 160-year history and why the sport has thrived despite constant chaos. amazon.com/AMERICAN-ODYSSEY-…

30 years ago today (1996): It was a week past the third Saturday in October, but the date nor rain dampens a huge game between 7-0 Alabama and 4-1 Tennessee. The Vols hadn’t beaten the Tide at home since 1984, and Tennessee scores the final 20 points for a cathartic 20-13 win.
I have not done the research, but I wonder if Kyler Murray is about to become the first quarterback to be a starter for the last remaining undefeated team in a season for two different teams.
Florida beat Texas in Austin. Why is that one the head to head result that doesn’t matter?
I wrote about the many voters ignoring head-to-head results in the latest AP poll: nbcsports.com/college-footba…
I have to be facing a really good QB to not take the ball first in overtime. Would not call C.J. Stroud that right now.
Giants in good shape now though.
Weird for Georgia to jump Notre Dame after Auburn lost by 21 at home and Alabama didn’t look very good but whatever.
Boise State is getting a ton of benefit from “ranking at the time of the game” with Oregon. Laughable that they’re ahead of Arizona.

Ohio State replaces BYU at No. 2 while No. 1 Miami is the only team to hold its spot in the AP Top 25 poll. See where your team landed.
I would say this is a really silly argument in 2026, but if there’s one school to argue for that here, it’s Mississippi State. Six wins still means something there.
.@TomFornelli and I had the same reaction. You have Oklahoma and Texas back to back before a bunch of winnable games. You have no chance to block Oklahoma and Texas. If you win the winnable games you can make a bowl. Why are you playing Kamario now??

Arizona too low, but this is a pretty good ranking IMO.

USC had a chance to set itself up for at minimum an exciting stretch run with three really big games and needing to win two of them. 24-7 later, it could be over next week.
