It’s nice that we got to see real extra innings one more time before baseball goes away for the next 18 months.

This is so crazy. There are former Rays players, currently on other MLB teams’ rosters, openly and in person, cheering for the Rays. I love this team so damn much and I can’t wait for the day that I watch us lift the World Series trophy
Former Rays pitchers Zach Eflin, Tyler Glasnow, Pete Fairbanks, and Chris Archer are all in attendance for Game 4!

How to identify true talent and work ethic beyond the highlight tape/resume reel: 1. Ask to see the work they did yesterday. 2. Rinse and repeat. In the “look at me” era, it’s still the things we do when others aren’t looking that continue to stand out the most.

I feel like I’ve never seen a group of active players support a former team like I’ve seen with former Rays players in this year’s playoffs

My sons, like me, topped out at little league. But with one just out of the house and the other on his way, this hit really hard. JVL is a great writer; even by his standards this piece is outstanding. I dare any parent to read it without tearing up.
"I’ve never played a single game of baseball. Not once. Never even threw, or caught, a baseball until I was in college. I have no personal connection to the game....For me, the joy of baseball has been walking with my little boy as he grew." lnk.thebulwark.com/4z1DL0V

Iconic moment.
OTD: 10/17/2005 Albert Pujols shocks Houston with a monster go-ahead home run in the 9th inning of Game 5 in the 2005 NLCS off Astros pitcher Brad Lidge. Astros were one out away from advancing to the World Series.

Nobody suddenly gets mentally tough in October. The postseason just shows what you’ve been building since the first day of fall ball. Go back and read your receipts. #MentalPerformance #Confidence #MLB #Postseason

So Taguchi was such a stud.
Wow! So Taguchi puts together a 9 pitch at bat and goes deep off of Billy Wagner. Unbelievable moment giving St. Louis a 7-6 lead in the 9th!

Wrote about the real secret weapon of the Rays, which is that their outfield defense went from pretty mediocre last year to ... the best outfield Statcast has ever tracked at turning batted balls into outs. Seems good. mlb.com/rays/news/rays-secre…

October doesn’t create pressure. It shows you what you’ve been running on all year. Every postseason you’ll see two kinds of players. Thermometers read the room. Crowd gets loud, they get loud. One bad call and the whole at-bat changes. Thermostats set the room.
