So great to see Beltrami County Commissioner, and @MNcounties Tribal Relations Chair Tim Sumner speaking on a national, @NACo panel on county-Tribal relations.
Tim is honest with room about the diversity of Tribal-local government relations within the State, the work to be done, but also the progress that has been made, citing MOUs on everything from water infrastructure, law enforcement, and natural resource mgmt.
Grateful for legislative leaders Demuth, Hortman, Murphy, & Johnson speaking candidly with our members about the difficulties of this session, but recognition that nonpartisan local gov’t may be a good resource/example to look to on how to achieve compromise and move forward.

Can’t say enough about how wonderful our local elections administrators are. They’ve been working overtime the last few election cycles (to put it lightly) & will be asked to do even more in these bills. We cannot rely on tax base alone to fund democracy’s most critical function!

Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Pope County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Owen, who was killed in the line of duty last night. Our thoughts are with Pope County, the communities of Starbuck, Glenwood, and Cyrus, and the men and women who have pledged to protect and serve them.
