Ending a great Sunday in Fairmont with this group of fired up Minnesotans, helping me and Jake Johnson, our candidate for the 1st district congressional seat in Southern Minnesota! Getting out and talking to people is how we win — outside money can’t beat that.

From Bemidji to Rochester, from Fergus Falls to Duluth, Forum papers serve communities across our state and cover the issues that matter most to them. I'm grateful to be the first Democrat running for Governor to receive their endorsement in 24 years.

The football game I’ve been waiting for! The Iowa Hawkeyes (not to be confused with various other birds from Atlanta) are in town to play our Golden Gophers and the Floyd of Rosedale is on the line! #SkiUMah #RowtheBoat!

Last night, I finally met the Great Kahn himself, JB Pritzker. We talked about how he'd renamed Lake Michigan to Lake Illinois. I told him he should rename Wisconsin and Indiana Illinois as well, and that it'd be a great platform for 2028. He replied, I shit you not, "Why wait that long?"

Like has happened across the country, my Minnesota office was sent a letter containing a suspicious substance, and we were promptly notified by the Capitol Police and postal inspectors. Thanks to the postal workers and investigators who identified and intercepted it, no one in our office was in immediate danger. We’re grateful to everyone involved for their quick response and we will continue working closely with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

The fact that Amy Klobuchar could set the record straight because she’s a #Gophers fan, and knows sports…
Replying to @atrupar
holy shit -- turns out Jack Smith went to a Hawkeyes game in Maryland but Schmitt's team is so reckless they concocted a conspiracy theory that Smith was actually in Atlanta seeing a Hawks game and colluding with Fani Willis. Klobuchar points out to Schmitt, "you have your teams wrong."

Before calling someone a “dirtbag,” the Senator should have had his facts straight. An apology is in order.    Glad one of us knew the difference between the Atlanta Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes!

I guess I’m old-fashioned but I think if you accuse someone in Congress of committing perjury based on your own confusion of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlantic Hawks, you ought to take a minute and apologize.

Amy Klobuchar refused to let this go, returning to it after questioning and calling on Eric Schmitt to apologize for his remarks about Jack Smith. “For a US senator to have false information and imply, based on a confusion about the name of a team — which I knew, knowing my Midwestern sports — and imply that you were in another city, that you were somehow involved that day in what was happening in Georgia, and then call you a dirtbag, is something that deserves an apology.”

Great story by Owen. When I was a Legislative Director in the Senate, I used to joke that you could send the wizards at Leg Counsel office anything from a detailed outline to a cartoon sketch on the back of a Monocle napkin and they'd find a way to turn it into a workable bill. And then if the bill became a law, future judges would spend weeks poring over the placement of each word and comma to parse the meaning in a tough case.
NEW: Hill staffers and outside groups are relying on AI to draft legislation — but those bills are often riddled with errors. The office tasked with catching mistakes is inundated. For @politico: politico.com/news/2026/08/17…

😤 let’s goooo
We broke the record! More than 1.1 million Minnesotans cast ballots in the statewide primary election - about 25% of eligible voters. This is the first time more than one million votes have been cast in a primary. (The previous high was in 2018 with 925,554 ballots cast.)

In Minnesota, trust is not given – it’s earned. I’m honored to have won this nomination and earned your trust, and I’m ready to get to work.
