Mom worked 50+ hours a week when I was a kid and we still had mostly home-cooked meals. Either the slow cooker was going, or often there was a casserole of some kind in the fridge, covered in foil, with a sticky note saying "Bake 350 for 30 min" or something. Us kids just had to drop it in the oven.
People get stressed about cooking because they think it has to LOOK or FEEL or WORK a certain way, when it's really just "figure out how to work this into your schedule" and it's pretty doggone easy to do.
I mean yeah this kind of cooking is like two degrees of effort away from "casseroles" and other sorts of low-effort high-satisfaction wifeslop family meals that women used to make before nytimes cooking gigafried their brains into thinking they need to prepare bespoke brown butter miso gochujang cuisine 365 days a year
As somebody who answered emails for a major department store 17 years ago, it’s because the world is chock full of idiots who spend every waking moment wondering where their orders are so if they don’t get their hand held like this, they will just email the CS department daily asking for the status of their order.
It’s just another case of having to cater to the bottom 5%.

The funniest part about these “digs” is they don’t land for us.
We LOVE Wisconsin. We’re proud to be from Milwaukee. We wear t-shirts bragging about it.
I won’t say nobody, but there are very few people who are from here who don’t love it here. They may bellyache about the weather (too many do this), but if Milwaukee is your home, it’s in your heart.
Nobody caaaaaares if you hate Milwaukee. You’re not from here, you’re not us.
