Carney fans just can't handle the truth that Carney and Trump share core ideological planks essential to MAGA-ism. But they do (a thread)
1. A belief in strict social hierarchy: that the rich know better, and we must get out of their way to ensure they trickle down the wealth. Cut their taxes and regulations while also slashing public services. They promise it will benefit the poors.

New in PN: We’ve blown past mere “transphobia”
"Hitler used hatred of Jewish people to try to build power, and then he used that power to eliminate Jewish people. The Republican Party has a similar relationship to trans hate. They hope it will help them win elections. But they also hope that winning elections, and funding anti-trans propaganda, will allow them to eliminate trans people." publicnotice.co/p/trump-repu…

Diversity, equity and inclusion policies only apply when you are deciding between candidates who are qualified. They don't promote people who are unqualified.
We've already seen where anti-DEI policies have been enacted that any working person from a minority group (people of colour, women, 2SLGBTQIA+ people) suddenly gets termed a "DEI hire" based on the presumption that they are inherently unqualified *because of who they are.*

Oh fun!
Alberta is spending 25.8 million to build new school buildings for schools that are either religious or religious adjacent…
Including one is Sylvan lake.
Whose student body is made up of almost 3/4 home schooled kids it supports the home schooling of.

Oh, look! Is Abigail Schimke, the UCP’s Central Alberta Director, the same Abby Schimke who works in Administration at Lighthouse Christian Academy — the very school that was just awarded $4 million by the Government of Alberta? 🤔

The best person for the job should get the job. Period.
Today we tabled legislation that would ensure hiring and promotion decisions in the public sector are based on merit, not DEI policies. Mandatory workplace training will be relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the employee, instead of mandatory DEI sessions.
Every Albertan deserves a fair shot, and fairness means everyone competes on the same terms.

Question for media, reporters, journalists, TV anchors:
When Danielle Smith actually claims that students, children, are being groomed and transitioned during their class day…why are you not responding with facts?
Why are you letting her spew these conspiracy theories?

You can't blame this loss on Green 'vote splitting'
1. The BC NDP called the early election, so that's 100% on them
2. The Greens support Proportional Representation, so they actually want to fix this system
3. The ONLY vote splits in recent memory were right-wing Liberals splitting the vote in 2011 Federally, and in 2018-2024 Ontario.
4. The BC CON win was so big, even a collapsed Green vote wouldn't have mattered.
The left doesn't split votes: Liberals do, and moderates are the ones who elect right-wing governments.

Y'all don't understand how much damage us trans folks have tanked for almost everyone else the last like 4 years. It's been us and immigrants just taking the full blast of the culture war every day.
And now you call us selfish for asking for the same rights we had 2 years ago?

It's interesting to compare and contrast how the UK's political and media establishment treat JK Rowling for, ahem, "expressing controversial personal beliefs" and "standing up for free speech" with how Sally Rooney has been treated for actually doing those things.
The right knows how to channel the legitimate rage of working class people. The problem is where they direct that rage.
It’s not immigrants and trans kids making your life impossible. It’s the bankers and the billionaires with all the wealth and power. It’s time to put the blame where it actually belongs.

Smith is distancing herself from separatism, but not from MAGA. Listen to the language she uses when talking to UCP members about the NDP. “Woke cancel culture” “Open borders” “Gender change” “Defund the police” “Vaccines” She still wants to turn Alberta into MAGA North.
I hope every UCP member and supporter will watch this video.
The referendum is behind us. Albertans gave their answers and our party must honour that mandate.
What comes next is the only fight that matters, and it is twelve months away.
Naheed Nenshi's NDP have told us exactly what they will do with power:
🟠 Reopen the drug consumption sites we closed
🟠 Let minors undergo irreversible gender surgeries without their parents' knowledge.
🟠 Shut down school choice.
🟠 Bring back the production cap and the net zero regulations to phase out our energy sector.
🟠 Open border immigration.
🟠 A carbon tax.
🟠 And Avi Lewis in Ottawa pulling Nenshi’s strings.
United, our party will win. Divided the NDP wins and all Albertans would suffer as a result.
The time for division is over.
The time to unite and fight for a stronger Alberta and Canada is now.
The all-powerful elitist marginal group lobby is picking on the poor, helpless, voiceless rich people, corporations, media and industry again.
