Pope Leo: “There is no such thing as Holy War.”
Previous Popes and catholic saints:
JUST IN: Pope Leo sends message to Assisi peace meeting on its 40th anniversary.
He states: “There is no such thing as a holy war: only peace is holy”
Adds that the “spirit of Assisi” must be the “shared quest for peace is, first and foremost, the path of prayer”
“The path of Assisi calls religious leaders to foster a climate of dialogue amongst the faithful and within society, so that the language of arrogance may give way to the language of peace, negotiation and understanding”
His message focusses on peace building using work of different religions, rather than promoting ecumenism as an end in itself.

🔸 October 27 - Saint Nestor of Thessaloniki 🏟️🗡️ 🔸
Today, we commemorate the Holy and Victorious Martyr Saint Nestor of Thessaloniki, the friend and companion of Saint Demetrios the Great-Martyr. Both suffered for Christ in 306 AD during the persecutions of the Roman emperor Galerius Maximian. St Nestor was a young and handsome citizen of Thessaloniki, and was instructed in the True Faith by Saint Demetrios who used his position of influence as a military commander to preach Christianity.
When the emperor Maximian arrived in Thessaloniki to celebrate a decisive military victory, he imprisoned his commander Demetrios after learning that he had been using his entrusted position to bring pagans to Christ. As part of the festivities in the city, Maximian arranged for gladiatorial battles to take place in the city’s amphitheater. Citizens watched as the gigantic gladiator Lyaios crushed his opponents - many of whom were Christians whom had been sentenced to death for confessing their faith.
When Nestor saw how the emperor Maximian rejoiced in the suffering and killing of Christians at the hands of Lyaios, he decided to voluntarily battle the undefeated gladiator to prove that true strength is with those who believe in Christ. Before the battle, Nestor went to the prison cell where his companion Demetrios was being held, and fell to his feet saying; “Pray for me, O Servant of God, Demetrios, that by your prayers, God may help me to beat Lyaios, and put an end to him who brings reproach upon the Christians.”
Saint Demetrios made the sign of the Cross over the young Nestor and sent him off to his David vs Goliath battle. Saint Nestor bravely mounted the battle platform and prayed; “God of Demetrios, help me.” After dodging the charging Lyaios, Nestor managed to fatally stab the barbarian. Watching on, the emperor was enraged to have been shown up by this young Christian, and ordered for Saint Nestor to be beheaded. The emperor also sent soldiers to the cell of Saint Demetrius, ordering them to drive their lances through his chest. And thus, both these valiant and youthful warriors of Christ delivered their souls to the Lord.

Orthodoxy BANS Reading the Bible?! | Spoiler alert: No.

If you told me that I would be in an argument with a Atheist Zionist, I wouldn't believe you; but here it is.
Replying to @Methodios007 @Schrat_Ger
I didn't shift the argument.
I've already destroyed your attempt at trying to use the Mishnah as your device for trying to sanitise Jesus of being a jew.
The theory of supersessionism is fraudulent because no one, not even Jesus, has the authority to confer or modify the status of holiness. The only one in the bible who possesses the sovereignty/power to do so is Yahweh.
You have no idea what you even believe.

“Your church chooses to remain in the past rather than modernizing”
Yes 🗿
I finally found an atheist that actually explains his interpretation. Let’s break it down.
The phrase “sit in Moses’ seat” concerns their position as teachers of the Mosaic Law. The text does not explicitly say that Jesus endorses the entire Pharisaic Oral Law,

Replying to @Methodios007 @Schrat_Ger
Hillel the Elder: 110 BCE - 10 CE.
Yeshua/Jesus: 4 BCE - 33 CE.
Jesus advises his disciples to observe what the Pharisees teach, which thus includes their Oral Law (Mathew 23: 2-3); Jesus comparatively refers to the Pharisees as being 'righteous' and marks them as the benchmark that must be surpassed for entering heaven (Mathew 5: 20).
One can’t simply project every later rabbinic teaching backward into Hillel's lifetime then attribute it to Jesus.
Even if Jesus agreed with Hillel on a particular ethical teaching, that would establish agreement on that teaching—not acceptance of the entire Oral Law.
