Great feedback from last night's show and the discussion with Dr, Martin Smith of @bournemouthuni about violence and #conflict in #prehistory. If you missed it, link to the beginning of the interview here: youtu.be/owjjt-oVaKM?t=2846

YAY! Thank you! Humbled that we now have 45K subscribers on YouTube. At the same time, we're aware that in YouTube terms, 45K is quite a humble number. Onward and upward! 50K? 100K? youtube.com/c/theprehistoryg…

Just finished recording @PrehistoryGuys latest Patreon exclusive podcast. The 'Monday Moot' they're called and we make a new one every week. Today, we've been talking about the role of myth in archaeology.

A bit late but in case you miss it & have an interest in prehistoric Britain, the August National Geographic has a #Stonehenge cover story, catching up on recent research & with some good artwork (construction is pretty much an illustration of How to Build Stonehenge)

No - that isn't @RupertSoskin and I. However, violence and conflict in the unrecorded past is rarely talked about because - well - it's unrecorded! There's plenty of evidence of man's inhumanity to man in the archaeological record. youtu.be/owjjt-oVaKM
I knew Poulnabrone was among the oldest but I'm reading it is THE oldest dated megalithic monument in Ireland. I thought the stuff in Carrowmore cemetary was older? (Even allowing for controversial very early dates)
