President Dallin H. Oaks delivered a landmark address on religious freedom Wednesday at Washington National Cathedral, pointing to the United States Constitution as a key tool for peacemaking and finding common ground. “The Constitution compels a divided people to build coalitions to allow them to act together,” said President @OaksDallinH, who has spent seven decades studying the Constitution as a scholar, jurist and religious leader. “‘Compels’ is a strong word, but it is exactly what the Constitution does. It puts what we now call ‘peacemaking’ at the heart of the Constitution’s process for achieving freedom and unity, and fairness for all.” His remarks are the first by a Church President at Washington National Cathedral, a “house of prayer for all people,” and came on the eve of the country’s Constitution Day. The event, titled “Faith, Freedom and the Common Good,” explored the relationship between religious faith and American democracy. The gathering was part of the cathedral’s “A Better Way” series, which encourages Americans to find common ground and move forward together in polarized times. President Oaks said he was participating in the effort to help “embody the love of God in public life,” offering “hope for unity and a moral framework to move forward in a divided world.” Learn more on Church Newsroom. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

We're in a new era of updating software. Don't delay installing your software updates. I just discovered two of the Wordpress sites I host were compromised within 1 day of the patch being released. Automatic updates are the only way to go.

Geee, thanks @Square. I used a unique email to signup for my square account a few months ago and now I'm getting spam to that address. Way to protect my data. /sarcasm

Oh @Azure "... we are investigating an incident which is impacting multiple services in West US 2, due to a power event. . This impacts service accessibility region-wide ..." Site says: "Each availability zone has independent power, cooling, and networking infrastructure ..."

This is the wrong knee-jerk reaction. Don't they realize that with Mythos, closed source software loses its security-through-obscurity protections? theregister.com/software/202…

Trying to hash out thoughts about the proliferation of self-care. It seems like self-care is being used more and more as an excuse to avoid personal responsibility. At what point does self-care turn into selfish-care?

This is not a real thing. If you ever see this, you are on a malicious site that is trying to take control of your computer.

So, let me get this straight, this Utah bill makes voter information public(names, addresses, etc...), except those that sponsored/pushed the bill through can get their information excluded? Great job, Johnson & Lee. le.utah.gov/~2026/bills/stat…

Superwhisper's next update might be too powerful to release publicly. The new voice model is so fast at transcription it started finishing sentences users hadn't thought of yet... We even put it in a sandbox and it dictated its way out. It also identified a flaw in the English language that had gone unnoticed for 600 years. Linguists have been informed. Out of an abundance of caution, we are withholding the update until further notice. Sincerely, The Superwhisper Team

The Savior’s charge to His disciples to love one another—and the dramatic and powerful way He taught this principle at the Last Supper—is one of the most poignant and beautiful episodes from the last days of His mortal life. He was not teaching a simple class in ethical behavior. This was the Son of God pleading with His Apostles and all disciples who would come after them to remember and follow this most central of His teachings. In the face of the eternity-shaping Atonement He was about to undertake, such a commandment requires our obedience. We manifest our love for God when we keep His commandments and serve His children. We don’t fully comprehend the Atonement, but we can spend our lives trying to be more loving and kind, regardless of the adversity we face. #GreaterLove

Wait, so the founder of Anthropic is "Amodei," as in "loves god"? And he leads Anthropic, meaning "human-centered," which is being used in military strikes? And the creator of ChatGPT is "Altman," as in "an alternative to humans"? And he leads OpenAI, which is completely closed? And then there's "Gemini," meaning "two-faced," from a company that promised to do no evil? And the whole global AI arms race is being driven by people who claimed to be worried about AGI taking over the world? Either the universe is an extremely cliché writer, or has a brilliant sense of humor
