Our first EVER Michigan bumble bee community science training was a big hit. We had a lot of fun and saw a lot of cool bumble bees!
The threatened dwarf lake iris (Iris lactusrtis) is blooming in Michigan! Botanist Rachel Hackett and Huron Pines AmeriCorps member Liam Daniels started population and status surveys for the year. The state wildflower, a Great Lakes endemic species, is a beautiful find!
We are very lucky to have Liam, Nicolette, and Chloe at MNFI. Looking forward to getting everyone out into the field soon!

Today we were out surveying bumble bees in a coastal plain marsh and came across a state threatened plant species, Rexia mariana.

We had a great time surveying with @MichiganNFI at Watkins! Beautiful natural features, and no invasive stiltgrass in this part of the park! Bees 3 Scientists 3 .... ended in a tie 🙂 🐝 #teamwork #survey #invasivespecies #conservation
