A friendly word of energy policy advice to Democrats who pledged lower gas prices:
You don’t lower prices by phasing out oil and gas with net-zero climate policies.
New natural gas and nuclear will lower costs. And passing permitting reform will actually unleash affordability.
Dismiss abundance at your own peril.

My wife interviewed parents whose adult children all remained Catholic. One commonality was a father who was firm in discipline, gentle with the kids, played with them, and prayed with them.
In other words, if you imitate the Father, your kids have a better shot at knowing Him
My suspicion is AI is a convenient excuse to hide bad business decisions.
It gives cover while helping with valuation when it’s “we are using AI” over “we are bad at leading this organization”.

There exists a martyrdom of those who offer their lives in a single moment, and the more hidden martyrdom of those who give their lives day after day. This is exactly what all Christians are called to do: to give our lives with love, every day.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

From the Editor:
The re-launching of the ACQR has been a great success. We are now into our third week. In the first week, we announced the Review, re-publishing the Salutatory from the Review’s original launch in January 1876.
In our second week, we featured Orestes Brownson’s last essay, “The Philosophy of the Supernatural,” from the first issue of the Review. Already in that very first week we brought out our first new contribution—an appreciation of Brownson’s political philosophy, by Michael Lucchese of @LawLiberty.
This week we feature a new essay by our own Associate Editor, David Elliot.
And you won’t want to miss next week, which will be devoted to Fulton Sheen.
Here is Dr. Elliot’s fine essay.

🚨A RARE MOVE by a Virginia Bishop Ahead of Election Day
"Catholic Bishop Michael Burbidge says he has never before asked every priest in his diocese to do what he requested this weekend: read a letter at Mass urging Catholics to oppose two Virginia constitutional amendments on abortion and marriage."
"Across 70 parishes serving more than 430,000 Catholics in Northern Virginia, worshippers heard Burbidge warn against what he called 'two dangerous ballot initiatives'—proposed constitutional amendments that Virginians will decide Nov. 3. Early voting begins Friday."
"The effort follows a joint statement Burbidge issued with Richmond Bishop Barry Knestout in August. In his latest letter, Burbidge urged parishioners to pledge to vote at CatholicsVoteNo.com, cast ballots early beginning Friday, and encourage their family, friends, and colleagues to oppose the amendments." ...
