It’s marathon season, and we so often celebrate those who finish first. But God, I love this video.
The last person to cross the finish line is met with cheers, applause, and a crowd of people who stayed to celebrate them.
Because sometimes the greatest victory isn’t finishing first. It’s refusing to give up.
Here’s to celebrating grit and guts. Perseverance and persistence. Heart and hope. The indomitable human spirit.
May we remember, in the races we run and the challenges we face, that victory is not always about being the fastest or the strongest. Sometimes it’s simply about finding the courage to keep going.
And when we see that kind of unconquerable spirit in others, may we cheer them on, lift them up, and celebrate them.
May we never give up.
And may we never stop encouraging those who refuse to quit.

Correcting bad reporting is always good but how does a mistake of this magnitude occur when a fact check is so easy?

To give people an idea of what these affidavit counts look like in Colom-Hyde Smith, I just got off the phone with the Circuit Clerk in Scott County. Total vote?
3830 Colom, 3933 Hyde-Smith.
Total affidavits? 105. Colom took EIGHTY FIVE OF THEM. In a county he *lost*.

Schumer flipped literally every seat that was actually difficult. Leftists flipped...Maine, a blue state, in the biggest blue wave of my lifetime.
Schumer won Mississippi, Iowa, and probably Alaska. Leftists won zero elections that anyone with a pulse and a D next to their name wouldn't have taken down

I have known Chuck Schumer for 16 years. I worked closely with him and his staff when I worked for Harry Reid. I have a lot of respect for him and have also had my differences over the years.
The job of leader happens mostly behind the scenes. The traits that make a good leader are not the same as what makes you good at social media, etc. Reid was famous for saying off-message stuff—lord knows how he would have fared in the age of social media.
When you’re in the majority, the job is about setting the agenda and passing bills that help people. When you’re in the minority, you’re at the mercy of the majority in terms of the agenda, so the job is mainly to get back in the majority.
By that measure, Schumer succeeded wildly on Tuesday.
He oversaw the biggest Democratic sweep in the Senate since Watergate, recruiting candidates who fit their states and putting them in position to win states many had written off long ago. He was an early believer in Mississippi, for example.
You can litigate this or that decision, and I certainly didn’t agree with them all—but when you step back and look at the big picture there’s simply no way to argue with this historic achievement.
To me, the question of whether Schumer deserves to be reelected as leader after the most dominant performance by Senate Democrats in more than half a century is straightforward, and the answer is clearly yes.

It is absolutely wild that days after massive Black turnout propelled Democrats to a huge victory in the House, mostly white leftists are publicly demanding that Democrats reject the first Black Speaker of the House.
If you wanted a better example of the out-of-touch-ness of the left I’m not sure you could make one up that matches this.

Here's a fun quirk in the Constitution: War appropriations bills can't last more than two years.

That’s … quite a misstatement.

CORRECTION: This post and opinion video states that Abdul El-Sayed gave his acceptance speech in Arabic. That’s not accurate. In fact, he said a few phrases in Arabic, but the majority of his speech was in English. The Free Press regrets the error.

There will be some major policy changes voters will feel because of the Blue Wipeout. But it will come from the states - imagine the changes in TX. A friend's teen daughter said that night, no more 10 commandments in school!

His party will turn on him. He can’t run again and the younger republicans don’t wanna commit career suicide with him. The question is how long before they turn. We’ve already seen so many admit they fucked up.

Fifty six senators (if margins hold) will get a vote. 47 of them supported Schumer two years ago. He needs 29 votes and no one else is running.
He’s not in danger barring some extraordinary turn of events in the next week.

Scott Colom began his press conference today offering sight-seeing tips to media in the area this week. The out-of-state reporters and crew have plenty of time on their hands since they can only speak with half the candidates while CHS remains in the witness protection program.
Watch cause it’s funny. But as someone who voluntarily moved to Mississippi we definitely need better PR. Would help to pick another Senator - like @scott_colom. So vote!
