Post surgical ultrasound imaging is always fun, especially when the patient forgets to tell you that he had previously had a long head of bicep tenodesis!!!! #diagnosticultrasound #shoulderpain #probeskills

What I always find difficult to judge when preparing for a large volume aspiration in how many empty syringes I need to set aside (I hate opening up too many and not using them all). Any tips on judging how assessing fluid volume using ultrasound? #Bakerscyst #jointaspiration

Chronic inflammation, trauma, or degenerative change can lead to the development of hydroxyapatite calcification within joint capsules. If small enough these can be missed on Xray. #Podiatry #MSKMedicine #DiagnosticImaging #1stMTPJoint #Calcification #UltrasoundGuided

This ultrasound image shows a nice example of psoriatic arthritis-driven distal triceps enthesopathy, with associated olecranon bursitis. #Rheumatology #MusculoskeletalUltrasound #PsoriaticArthritis #Enthesitis #Sonography #Bursitis #ImagingInRheumatology

A talar bone spur is a common cause of an anterior ankle impingement such as in this clip. Dynamic ultrasound can be a really useful tool to observe the interaction between the talocrural joint and a talar spur. #diagnosticultrasound #probeskills #ankleimoingement #anklepain

Anatomical variations in the shoulder can present diagnostic challenges, particularly when differentiating between a bifid long head of biceps tendon and an aponeurotic expansion of the supraspinatus tendon. Thoughts? #MSKUltrasound #ShoulderAnatomy #BicepsTendon #Supraspinatus

What volumes do you use when undertaking a hydrodistension I always prepare 30ml sodium chloride, 1ml steroid and 5ml lidocaine. I separate the procedure into two syringes. This first being the steroid and local anaesthetic following but a second, syringe, containing saline.

This is a nice example of a differential diagnosis for 1st MTP joint pain which can be beautifully seen on diagnostic ultrasound! ultrasound showed a large adventitious bursa, superficial to the 1st MTP joint which was hyperaemic on doppler. #adventitiousbursa #footpain

Olecranon bursitis is often caused by a foreign body entering the body causing an infection. For cases of suborn olecranon bursitis would you suggest bursectomy? Or just let them run their natural course? #diagnosticultrasound #elbowpain #olecranonbursitis

Asking a patient to move whilst completing a diagnostic ultrasound scan can show so much. The AC joint is a good joint to assess dynamically. In this example the AC joint can be seen to close in on itself pushing fluid cephalically. #diagnosticultrasound #shoulderpain #ACJ

The subscapularis tendon showed a subtle deficit, seen as a loss of fibre patterning and sagging of the anterior aspect of the tendon at its insertion. This tear was just enough to disrupt the long head of bicep sling causing it to medially sublux. #shoulderpain #longheadofbicep

This mixed echogenic heamatoma is located within the subcutaneous tissue superficial to the medial joint line. I was unable to aspirate. How would you manage this? #diagnosticultrasound #kneepain #heamatoma

Pectoralis major tendon insertional calcification While Calcific tendinopathy of the rotator cuff is common, pectoralis major tendon insertional calcification (hydroxyapatite crystal deposition disease (HADD) is much more rare.#ShoulderPain #CalcificTendinopathy #Hydroxyapatite

The deepest fibres of supraspinatus are actually part of the glenohumeral joint capsule and so when a full thickness tear the capsule of the joint is torn allowing joint fluid to escape through the tear and into the bursa. #shoulderpain #diagnosticultrasound #rotatorcufftear

This patient has both a painful triggering of the finger and a stiff and painful PIPJ. My thought is, if the joint is involved then treat the joint first. What do you think? Which one would you treat first? #diagnosticultrasound #triggerfinger #PIPJOA #fingerpain

Rec fem tears are a tricky one to diagnose and treat. In this case the central tendon seems to be torn mid thigh. Mechanism of action- full sprint during football followed by a power strike if the ball. #diagnoaticultrasound #rectusfemoristendontear #thighpain
