It seems as though Labour are effectively going to decree that everyone under the age of 25 (apart from those who have met the severe conditions criteria) will effectively be deemed to be capable of work-related activity, with the health element not being accessible to them before then. An entirely ridiculous suggestion.
I don't know who came up with such an idea but I can tell you one thing, it wasn't a disabled person.
Of course this could be a media spin, whereby they put out something completely outrageous and then they announce the actual policy and it's a slightly watered down version, but either way, effectively forcing thousands of disabled people to compete for jobs they won't be able to do is completely nonsensical proposition.

It is not necessary to remove disabled children’s rights to improve the SEND system. Please listen to families. Over 80,000 people have signed the petition to protect #SEND legal rights.

I'd like a correction please @BBCNews in this article you claim that the Timms review said PIP was a barrier to work for many.
The Timms review does not say it's a barrier for many in fact it says:-
"We also found that while many disabled people say that PIP is vital in helping them meet the extra costs of disability and participate in everyday life, others stated PIP creates barriers to participating fully in work, social and community life."

If you intend to proceed despite those warnings, please explain what enforceable protection a child will have when a school or local authority fails to provide the support they need ... which based on evidence IRL happens all too frequently! @IPSEAcharity @SpcialNdsJungle

It seems this Government’s legacy will be the removal of disabled children’s rights. There’s no lower ambition than that. @LucyMPowell @andyburnham

Would you trust a Govt that removes parents legal right to challenge unlawful SEND decisions? Around 95% of SEND tribunal rulings go against LA’s If councils are losing at that rate, why remove parents right to hold them to account instead of fixing the decisions? @andyburnham

Her SEND legacy should be judged by one question: did it strengthen children’s rights or weaken them? She heard countless accounts of poor LA decision making, yet proposed reducing parental legal rights to challenge it. That’s not ambition - that’s a serious safeguarding failure.

SEND parents have been gaslit for years.
Now an ITV whistleblower says council staff were told to delay support, dodge families and avoid paper trails.
My daughter was out of school for 2.5 years.
My son has no school place for September.
The Friday 5pm bad-news calls. The emails before leave. The missing school consultations. The obstruction.
We were not imagining it.
It was never a broken system.
It was a strategy.
Managers told council staff to delay access to SEND support and laughed about it, whistleblower says

ALT A blue and yellow infographic. It has the blue and yellow BuDS logo and a QR code link to the BuDS website. There is a central quote which reads: “At a time when there are huge critical issues dividing the country, when people are looking to politicians and politics for leadership and unity in the national interest, it would be appallingly bad optics for Westminster to spend weeks quarrelling over assisted suicide for NHS patients, a policy which has never appeared on any party manifesto”. Under the quote are the words “Why Another Assisted Dying Bill Isn’t Needed. BuDS Disability Service, May 2026”

The government that is stripping legal rights of SEND children in education to save money, is spending vast amounts on social media influencers in a hope of not looking like complete bastards. What the hell are they thinking?
