Got some sweet rollers on the way to Toronto
π·: @sendqueery
Holy scope creep!
What was supposed to be a 3-4 day job of painting the fairings, turned in a 2.5 month complete ground up restoration.
Iβve replaced or refreshed every single part outside of the block. Too much to list, but my to-do list was 127 items at one point.
Not everything is perfect, but Iβm very very happy with how it turned out and itβs something Iβm very proud of.
So, under woke 3.0 rules, now that both my Senator (@AbdulElSayed) AND my Representative (@RashidaTlaib) are Muslim, can I as a white woman say habibi? It just sounds so cool
So, my bike is gonna be finished today πππ, then I also need to replace the control arms on the Panamera before Alli gets back from Japan in ~10 days or so, easyβ¦ buuuuut WoW Forever launches tomorrow eveningβ¦ weβll see what wins out :P
Look, I know sponsor roll calls are βcontroversialβ π or whatever on personal cars/bikes but I did all this work to paint her fucking pink, I clearly do not give a fuck what randos think. I love it.
Last year I replaced the stock fairings after the crash with unpainted white ones and did a very quick strip and spray job on the tank so it would match.
I found out that it was not only not the stock tank but the replacement had also been repaired and painted over.
I ignored the body work needed as I just wanted to get back on the road.
Nowβs the time to actually repair it. π
I donβt exactly love love the white backing on some of the vinyl but it would look weird without it imo. Might try and find a better solution down the road.
Now on to the final step of bondo and painting this beat to shit tank. 3 days and sheβll be complete! π€π»
Was going to wait until I was finished to see it all together, but the test piece I did yesterday came out so good that I had to get a little preview of how the rest of the fairings are gonna look
Took all afternoon to do the brakes as they were seriously gunked up, but time for a test ride! Havenβt ridden her in months and Iβm so fucking happy.
She lives! First start since I began this huge project. Finally time to start the actual project I set out to do originally (plasti-dipping the fairings) π
Iβm not happy with how the paint job came out at all but for my first time doing automotive paint on aluminum specifically itβs not too bad. Lessons learned for next time. Does look better though and will compliment how Iβm going to paint the fairings better.
