Steam has been an extreme boon for game devs, a place they can actually put their work and find an audience.
The problem is they think steam should do EVERYTHING for them. It should market for them, it should quash their competition, it should find the audience for them.
You can't just slap stuff on steam and call it a day, you need to put in actual work in marketing your game, getting people excited for it, maybe as a streamer or two if they'll play it if you give them a key. Just put in some extra effort.
So 7 to 8k demos glut of passionless, low effort projects, AI slop everywhere.. I’m seriously starting to reconsider whether I should even participate in the next Next Fest. I’ve been slowly improving my game and my demo, and I even hired a new 3D modeler to help out, but it’s so demotivating to think that all that effort might just get lost in a sea of AI generated junk with one prompt.

So @enatsushiro and I are continuing our Fortunes Weave playthrough and it really just keeps getting worse honestly?
Like 3 hours of the 4 hour stream was "monastery" time and we realized theres like 3 skirmish maps that just repeat over and over again.
Dungeons have EXP share so every single unit gets levels regardless if they participate.
Other then that theres nothing new on the mechanics front, its all still extremely bloated and MEH. More importantly the story is still terrible.
Everything is over explained exposition and in our most recent fight, the main character helps up her opponent after winning the fight, then her evil arm takes over and she begins to violently bludgeon the opponent half to death with her bare hands and every character acknowledges just how horrific and terrifying this is. Immediately after the fight she's right outside your house going "golly gee wilikers that fight was sure fun! I know I should be sad I lost but darn I just loved it."
There's just no thought put into this story. Its genuinely worse then 3H which was already held together by duct tape and prayer.

Look man, someone needs to tell you girls this, as a streamer, you set the mood and guidelines for your chat BY YOUR ACTIONS, not your words.
You all acknowledge this with male creators when you try to call them out for racist jokes or drama farming.
But you refuse to acknowledge it when you're flashing your titties and saying "cum for mommy" on stream.
If you act like a whore on stream, you do not get to whine that your chat aggressively flirts with you.
Cover has come out and said Laplus acted the way she did the other day cause she got sent a dick pic. As someone who likes hololive, this story makes literally no sense.
First, of the only two means to communicate with her, one is permanently locked and the other is managed by Cover.
Second, she specifically addressed harassment in her live chat, nothing about DMs originally
Third, she compared whatever harassment was happening directly to how she interacts with others, suggesting whatever they did was equivalent to what she did on stream.
Finally, she clarified the main reason it was offensive to her was because she doesn't like men in her final line.
This doesnt read like a legitimate explanation from Cover, this reads like damage control. I just don't buy it.

People will literally let devs blame AI for every bad decision they make now, then when you call them out on it they'll say it was AI's fault they blamed AI instead of the dev for making the bad decision.
If you wanna "blame" someone, blame the ai vibecode "modders" whinedivers who basically gave AH the greenlight to turn on EAC

Its an active hatred for the rest of the medium that I find extremely destestable and you see it with how they interact.
No care of story, character motivations, actually learning how the abilities and powers work, anything that is actually relevant to the story.
All they care about is made up math about "feats" and its annoying to talk to cause they literally are the children still on the playground who just bullshit reasons why their right. Its destructive to community.

In last night's anituber audits, we covered a video trying to argue tourists weren't an issue, mostly because "no one can agree what it even means so it means nothing," but they ultimately concluded gatekeeping was good.
The thing is, they didn't do the typical "we need to gatekeep the gatekeepers" that would be too predictable. Instead the new argument is that people who like lewd anime girls aren't real fans and that gooners who like ecchi content need to be gatekept cause they're "twisting anime" from what it really is.
I don't doubt we'll see this argument more in the future. Trying to argue that anime staples aren't actually apart of anime and people who like them are ruining "true" anime.
He also calls people like HeroHei and ChibiReviews grifters but then defends "The Anime Men" as real fans, somehow.
His biggest argument is a made up term by French psychologists 50+ years ago in a paper about social upheaval in France. Completely random BS pretty much.
