On Oct 20, SM Odawara received a courtesy call from Commander-in-Chief Tran Thanh NGHIEM of Vietnam People’s Navy. They welcomed the steady progress in the cooperation between JMSDF and Vietnam People’s Navy. JMOD/JSDF will further strengthen defense cooperation with Vietnam.
On Oct 19, SM Odawara received a courtesy call from Gen. Wilsbach @Official CSAF. They discussed flexible air dispersal and joint exercises, reaffirming continued Japan-U.S. cooperation to strengthen Alliance deterrence and response capabilities.

The JGSDF Engineer School conducted capacity-building assistance for the PNGDF in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Now in its 6th year, the program enhances PNGDF engineering equipment maintenance capabilities and strengthens bilateral defence cooperation.🤝
SDF personnel who participated in the international disaster relief activities in Indonesia for about one month have returned to Japan. At the homecoming ceremony, DM Koizumi commended the personnel for their dedicated service and presented a commendation certificate to the unit.
He also expressed his gratitude to their families for their unwavering support throughout the mission. This mission was made possible not only by the dedication of the personnel, but also by the understanding and support of their families back home.
On Oct 18, DM Koizumi attended a homecoming ceremony for the deployed unit at JMSDF Yokosuka District.
He commended the personnel for their dedicated service during about one month of international disaster relief activities in response to the forest fires in Indonesia.
