Happy Birthday to Daniel Johnston would've turned 65 today. 🕊️🩵
In the early ’80s, a young Daniel Johnston was working at a McDonald’s in Austin, Texas. Instead of just handing out fries, he was handing out cassette tapes, sometimes slipping his homemade albums into customers’ to-go bags. After Johnston’s appearance on MTV’s 'The Cutting Edge,' label executives started calling almost immediately, but McDonald’s was the only place he had reliable access to a phone. Word spread fast around Austin and soon people were coming in not for the Big Macs, but for Daniel Johnston.

A rhythm guitarist and bassist, he was a “rock” for a band whose fiery lead players, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, had no shortage of ego. nytimes.com/2025/10/06/arts/…

Super Sky Point to Brian Wilson, one of the most incredible musical geniuses to ever grace this planet and a gentle soul. Pet Sounds remains a masterpiece waiting to be discovered by future generations. Brian had a hard life but gave us so much. St. Peter, grab a surfboard. #RIP

Sly Stone Has Died. In 1968 I saw Sly & the Family Stone debut at the Fillmore East in New York City opening for Jimi Hendrix. They were a freight train of bombastic, joyous SouI that would soon climb the charts and change the sound of R&B for so many other artists. Rest In Soul!

We are saddened to learn of the passing of artist Greg Hildebrandt, who famously painted the iconic blue Star Wars poster with his brother Tim in 1977.
Greg and his brother’s artwork will live in the hearts of fans forever.

Super Sky Point to Teri Garr, a very funny lady and one of the most underrated 80s crushes. Always among the most likable celebrities of her generation and the main reason I’ll always remember Schooner Tuna is the tuna with a heart. #RIP
