BREAKING: Fed Chair Warsh announces plans to overhaul the Fed's meeting schedule beginning in Fall 2027. BREAKING: The Consumer Confidence Index surged +7.5 points in October, to 91.7, its highest since May 2026. This marks its largest monthly increase since May 2025. The Present Situation Index jumped +8.6 points, to 120.4, its highest since April. At the same time, the Expectations Index rose +6.9 points, to 72.6, nearly reversing 3 consecutive monthly declines. The increase in sentiment was largely driven by the recent decline in retail gasoline prices, which provided some relief to household budgets. Furthermore, consumers reported improved perceptions of the job market and business conditions. Consumer confidence remains highly volatile.
