The tragic transition of 🇨🇦 from fighting alongside 🇺🇸 in 2 world wars and in Afghanistan, rescuing American hostages in Iran, working collaboratively with our American neighbours across a spectrum of endeavours, now waking up with sadness to a new economic declaration of war 💔
Our JBC paper is now online! Here we examine the mechanisms by which a common genetic variant in PNPLA3 (148M) causes fatty liver disease and builds upon our previous work on the interaction of PNPLA3 with ABHD5.

Targeting of ABHD5 to LDs is also required to promote the interaction with PNPLA3. So both proteins need to be on LD!

Our paper is now online! Here we investigate the direct effect of lipolysis on AMPK signaling in adipocytes. Using our real-time FRET sensor we show lipolysis genereates long-chain acyl-CoAs that are involved in allosteric activation of AMPK.#lipidtime

Interesting new work showing serotonin as a suppressor of human BAT. The authors propose this may explain weight gain associated with SSRIs. The serotonin transporter sustains human brown adipose tissue thermogenesis | Nature Metabolism nature.com/articles/s42255-0…
New works shows that ABHD5 (CGI58) controls placental lipid metabolism indepdent of ATGL (PNPLA2). ABHD5 also interacts with PNPLA9 adding to the list of PNPLA binding partners.
