As a nets fan, Scalabrine reported it, walked it back, and now he's mad at Jaylen's PR team. You don't get to be the victim of your own report.
Brian Scalabrine goes OFF on Jaylen Brown 😳 “Jaylen Brown wants to be the victim in all of this, and this is the way he’s doing it now. He’s using me, or his PR team, or whatever it is, to play the victim, and he’s not going to take responsibility for it. That’s fine…I just feel like he wants to say whatever he wants, and he doesn’t want to be held accountable, just like on his Twitch. He wants his legacy to remain intact, and he’s not going to take responsibility for the other stuff that he brings up. And this is just the beginning of it.” (Via @SiriusXMNBA )

Through 3 games, half the shots teams take against us are threes, most in the league, and they're making 40.3% of them. Of course the rim looks fine. Nobody has to go there. Somebody has to actually want to run a shooter off the line.
Jordi Fernandez told me he's feeling "very positive" about the Nets' defense improving soon: “I've been happy with the aggressiveness of the group. I mean, it's not perfect... I'm happy with how the group is working... I know we have to contest threes better. We limit rim [attempts], but we don't limit the percentage... So being better situated on the court, that means more help defense, verticalities, charges, all that will help. Right now we're playing so spread out that means that you need a team that is compact to help one another. Those are the things we're working on. I'm very, very, very positive that the group will keep getting better. It's three games, and I believe we all want to solve things right away. And that's the excitement that everybody has, us included, the fans. But we know that the way these guys approach the day-to-day and the work they've put in, I'm just very, very positive about how things are going to go.”

0-3 and now we get the Celtics in their building. Somebody on this team guard a human being tonight. I'm begging.

Sharpe is the only Net with a positive net rating through 3 games, and the team is 21.3 points per 100 better with him on the floor. Opponents are shooting a league-worst 60.7% eFG against us. Get him a real backup big and half this problem goes away.
“The Nets’ starting lineup was a plus-14 through their first two games and, despite some ugly starter minutes against the Pacers on Sunday, they’ve still outscored their opponents (by 1.5 points per 100 possessions) with Day’Ron Sharpe on the floor,"

Through 3 games only five teams get to the line more than us. Free throw rate is 33.7%, up from 27.2% last year. Quit settling for threes in Boston tonight and drive it into somebody's chest every trip.

Michigan comes to Piscataway on Saturday. Their most famous QB won 7 Super Bowls. Make Tom Brady the next Rutgers coach. Biggest media market in the country and he'd own it on day one.

Randle, MPJ, Sharpe, Ellis and Demin are +2.9 per 100 possessions together in 47 minutes. Every other five-man group with real minutes is underwater. Ride the starters 36 minutes tonight in Boston and worry about legs in November.

As a nets fan I'd kill for a crowd that cares enough to boo. Jokić loses by 20 at home, calls his own fans fake, and the headline is that he's standing firm.
Nikola Jokić speaks again on the boos from Game 2: "...I'm sticking to what I said...I think they are not real fans" Full answer:

Michael Porter Jr shot 34.9% true shooting against Indiana. Last year he was at 59.5% on 24 points a night. One ugly game. Keep feeding him in Boston tonight and stop acting like he's the problem.

NFL had Justin Bieber on the shortlist and somehow landed on a has-been with cringe 2000s music. Jay-Z picking Jay-Z is exactly why the league can't get out of its own way.
Jay-Z HALFTIME SHOW? As the key decision-maker, rumors swirl that Jay-Z might choose himself for the upcoming Super Bowl halftime. Thoughts? (Other choices that have been discussed- Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles) #JayZ #SuperBowl #HalftimeShow #Music #news

The man who books the Super Bowl just booked himself. Almost 60 years old, still running a greatest-hits package from 2003. Justin Bieber was the correct choice. This is brutal.

Funny part is MPJ has been the better rim protector of the two. Through 3 games, opponents are shooting 54.5% at the rim when he's the closest defender, way under what those guys normally hit. When it's Randle, they're at 85.7%. Brooklyn is also 8th in defensive rebounding, so second chances aren't what's killing them. Teams are scoring on the first shot, and a lot of it is at the rim with Randle as the last line. Tiny sample, but the fix looks like more Sharpe and fewer possessions where Randle is the one protecting the paint.
Jordi Fernandez didn't hold back after an "unacceptable" defensive performance dropped the Nets to 0-3. I looked at the numbers and got Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle's takes on what is causing Brooklyn's issues on that end: clutchpoints.com/nba/brookly…

20.8 points a game and 12.3 allowed. Minnesota's 6-0 because of the defense. Meanwhile the Jets are 2-5 and Aaron Glenn is still out here acting like a defensive genius.
and then there was one 👀

As a nets fan, the bag is nice but the real number is 19 assists to 6 turnovers in 69 minutes. Fewer minutes, fewer bad shots, and Minnesota's 3-0.

25 deflections last night and Indiana still shot a 70.0% effective FG%. That's exactly what MPJ is describing. Level coverage only works if the back line rotates on time, and when the big steps up and the pocket pass beats him, there's nobody home behind it. Sharpe is the one big who can actually recover from that, and the team's 21.3 points per 100 better with him on the floor through 3 games. Either give him more minutes or stop sending the big up to the level against teams that can pass.
Asked MPJ what he feels is causing the Nets to struggle defensively: "The way we play at the level, when you have good passers that are able to hit the pocket, we are at a disadvantage on that back end. We want to get deflections and speed teams up, but we're at a disadvantage. So we have to be really on our horse to scramble and get to shooters and close out and try to take guys off the three-point line. Because a lot of times we are playing four-on-three, and we've got to get out of that situation and scramble a little bit better."

As a nets fan, 4 for 27 from three and the Kings are 0-3. Ball hog numbers on a losing team. Glad we went MBJ.
Kings rookie Darius Acuff Jr. hasn't been scared to get a shot up 😯 He's averaging 24.3 FGA through three games this season 👀
