The Eagles ran a slant against blitz, saw it worked, and then never tried it again 😂

I understand being a fan but I don’t understand how anyone can defend what the Eagles have done throughout this entire process with Jalen Hurts. It feels like he should’ve received a scan before boarding the flight to London — that didn’t happen. Then once arriving in London and learning that Hurts had a blood clot, they still allowed him to play against the Jaguars and fly back to Philadelphia. Upon returning to Philadelphia, Hurts was still a full participant in practice and it was once again reported as only a “calf injury.” Then the public finally learned that it was a blood clot that traveled and that Hurts would miss this week’s game. Earlier today, Hurts reportedly wasn’t going to be placed on injured reserve by the team. Fast forward a few hours and now Hurts is being placed on injured reserve and won’t be eligible to return until Week 11 after the bye week. Given how the Eagles have mismanaged the injury situations for Lane Johnson, Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith Jr. in recent years, it’s hard to have much faith in the team’s medical staff and training staff.

Eagles officially placed QB Jalen Hurts on injured reserve and signed RB Jaydon Blue to their active roster. OLB Keyshawn James-Newby and S Cole Wisniewski have been elevated for the game.

I’ve been critical of the Eagles medical staff and training staff before and was called crazy. This situation with Jalen Hurts feels like it should be the last straw and lead to changes. Philadelphia’s staff has consistently botched injuries and now something far more serious.

Well that's terrifying. I'm glad that the ultrasound found it and Jalen can get treatment for it. I have no idea what that looks like or means for him going forward though. Good thing the Eagles spent all of training camp and the preseason on a farce of a QB competition that saw them name Andy Dalton the backup only to cut him after throwing 1 pass.
Breaking: #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is out for Sunday due to a superficial blood clot. Full statement from the #Eagles on QB Jalen Hurts:   “On Thursday, October 8th, Jalen visited the training room after practice requesting treatment for his calf. He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th. This was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice report.   “Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walkthrough. The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.    “Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.     "On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.”

As a "CEO type" of head coach, your one job is to make the kinds of decisions that good CEOs make. If you aren't doing that, then what are you.
#Eagles HC Nick Sirianni: “I didn’t make the right decision and I lost us that game. I told that to our guys. ... I put that fully on me."

Friendly reminder, this is a photo from the year we won the Superbowl 🤷‍♂️

My goat
Three-time Pro-Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, who played in Philadelphia from 2013-‘21 and helped the team win its first Super Bowl, is returning to the city and signing with the Eagles practice squad, per sources. The Eagles lost TE Dallas Goedert to a sprained MCL and now are turning to Ertz, who spent the past two seasons in Washington.

Herbert PR is on a generational run
Many fans have pushed for the NFL to add an “interception caused by receiver” stat to differentiate QB mistakes from interceptions that are largely out of their control. Is this play a perfect example of why that stat should exist? 🤔

One of the best Jalen Hurts games I've seen in a minute. OL, RB, TE injuries. Awful pick early + bounced back. The resilience and poise in his game is always incredible.

I’ll never forget that one time where the Eagles tush pushed and Fox had Dean Blandino come onto the broadcast for 10 minutes screaming and crying why it was horrible and hard to officiate and needed to be banned. The Bills do it and nobody says a word.
