Magical and exciting with danger lurking around every corner, Wildwood is fantasy at its finest! Heavily influenced by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, Laika’s latest film is a lush fantasy adventure full of rich world building, majestic wonder and thrilling action of a young girl searching for her lost brother in an unfamiliar magical realm. While the first act is slower as it builds the world and various characters’ backstories, once the stage is set, the remainder is an awe-inspiring fantasy that soars as it takes audiences on an unforgettable adventure. The voice cast is excellent, Dario Marianelli’s musical score is beautifully lush and complements the world of the novel wonderfully, and the stop-motion animation is glorious in bringing to life this rich world with unbelievable details and stunning movie magic that you can’t believe it’s brought to life by puppetry. Ambitious in scale and scope but absolutely stunning in its execution, Wildwood is not only an immersive, epic fantasy adventure for the ages but the crowning jewel of Laika studio!
