The Prime Minister is now expected to announce a compulsory digital ID scheme. Exactly the right move. Now it’s important the scheme is done properly as I argued in my column earlier this week: secure, ambitious, and with public trust at its core.

The problem for Rayner is that ordinary people are constantly hammered for the tiniest “blunders”. Accidentally drive into a bus lane and no one will show you any mercy. That’s the system our politicians built. So when they bend the rules of course the public is furious.

Queue for Oasis on Ticketmaster is averaging 10,000 every 1 hour, which means, after being put in 125,000th place in the queue after being kicked out multiple times, I’ll be able to see the screen saying no tickets are left in about 11-12 hours @TicketmasterUK @liamgallagher
