I’ve not had the opportunity to watch the new Carrie series yet, but my thoughts going in will be as follows: 1. Mike Flanagan is behind this, and I trust that man WHOLEHEARTEDLY with ANY AND ALL KING WORKS SVER (and my life), so I’m excited and my hopes are pretty high 2. I can’t say I’m completely without skepticism, I’m not exactly a big fan of “modern takes” and I really don’t think we need to remake Carrie as much as we have, BUT, most importantly…. 3. Stephen King HIMSELF 👏🏼 IS 👏🏼 ON 👏🏼 BOARD 👏🏼 with what Flanagan has done, and I WILL be taking that word over any rando on the internet. 4. (Bonus time!) if you can’t watch it because you’re too hung up on accuracies….PLEASE keep this energy for ALL book adaptations, because y’all will have this ridiculous discourse around an adaptation that comes out and then turn around and praise Kubrick’s mess to no end as “cinema”. Like, it is SO clear that y’all decide if book accuracy matters based on if you like the movie/show/etc. (Yes, there are SOME valid points being made around the depiction of Carrie’s character, and I’m in agreement, but a lot of y’all just seem to be complaining to complain) 5. (Bonus time part 2: Psychic Boogaloo) If yall REALLY need a book accurate show (or close enough to it) SO DAMN BAD, please go watch The Institute, criminally underrated and SO FUCKINH GOOD! 😭❤️
