There's no reason to think the window is over. The game in general is way better than it was when it launched. Cheaters are mostly in PvP games. I play every day and haven't been affected by any of these issues ( I don't PvP ) You get 40 hours in, it's already worth your money.

I don't disagree with some things, but most of the complaints are from people who have no-lifed this game. For a normal gamer, there is more than enough content. And tbf looking at player counts for games on this list it may seem like this is what Arc Raiders should not do ?
Rats though, tbh, I've learned to accept. I do find most of my games are PvE, working together, helping people out or vice versa. But I get occasional PvP encounters, sometimes rats, sometimes it's just people on edge who don't trust anyone, sometimes it ends well, sometimes not
Have you tried the Expeditions? I've been doing them and honestly loving how each time it feels different, you end up changing/refining your play style. Cons, redoing the quests and leveling up scrappy feel like a chore. And bloody searching for rusted gear and medical kit. Urrgh
