What a beautiful way to end the week. Know that you are loved 💕
Dear young people, I would like to tell each one of you: God loves you; never doubt it, whatever happens to you in life; under any circumstances, you are infinitely loved.

When you are wandering through Edinburgh and bump into @jaybrownmbe. Always guaranteed to put a smile on my face 😊 (Although meeting former pupils makes me feel a little older every time 🫣)

Trying to control a childs behaviour by failing to address the underlying issues leads to ineffective interventions, only further dysregulating the nervous system. We need to look at their history of adversity. Their history of relational wealth & their current functioning.🧠🌱

Archbishop Cushley has paid tribute to Andrew Sharkey, the former headteacher of St Kentigern's Academy in Blackburn, West Lothian, who died in November aged 54. Speaking at Mass for the school's patron saint, he said: "I want to give thanks to God for the gift of Mr Sharkey and what he was able to do – for his family, for the local community, for the scouts, and for the school."

If you don't enjoy spending time around children, education may not be the right path. Teaching is as much about relationships as it is about content.

A beautiful and fitting send off for the ‘Boss Man’ this morning. Always grateful for the opportunities he gave me and feeling devastated for his family today. Rest in Peace, Andrew.

Learning cannot happen in schools unless our young people have had their most psychological needs met.🧠🌱

Self-regulation is taught through co-regulation. We need to meet young people in their world. Model, relational wealth, and a safe environment create calm nervous systems. Only then is the cortex accessible for learning,self-control, and rational thinking 🧠🌱

Want to lead? Stop being “nice". Kind leaders are honest, even when it’s uncomfortable. Use my sheet for success. 👉 Want a PDF of my top infographics? Follow me @thejustinmecham and go here: fullpotentialzone.beehiiv.co… Please repost to help others out there! ♻️ “Nice” leadership holds people back, here’s why: Too many leaders mistake being nice for being kind. Being "nice" doesn’t solve problems. It doesn’t build trust or push people to grow. It simply avoids conflict, leaving issues unresolved. Think about a time when your leader was just "nice." They: Avoided conflict Ignored problems Sugarcoated feedback Maybe it felt good at first, but did you really grow from it? Being kind is different. Leadership isn’t a popularity contest. It’s about creating a space where people feel: Challenged Supported Trusted Kindness does that. Niceness doesn’t.

It so important to understand how young people’s brains work and remember the impact of trauma on them. Working with young people to help them understand themselves is life changing #teenagebrain #compassion -#traumainformed
How it was. A young person struggling to navigate the school environment. How it is now. The result of trauma informed responsive work.Mitigating a young persons stress. Regulation. Making sense of their world. Emotional availability. Inner work. Hero of their own story🧠🌱

LOVE a show-me board. I use mine in every lesson I teach
Show-me boards: a teacher’s best friend when it comes to: 1. Getting all students to think 2. Making all students’ thinking visible, so you can respond, either in the moment or further down the line. As a powerful formative assessment tool, show-me boards are hard to beat.
