AQA English grade boundaries rose in 2026 — by up to 6 raw marks.
Meanwhile, AQA Maths boundaries were broadly unchanged - or fell considerably.
When a handful of marks can shift headline percentages, how meaningful are simple yearly comparisons?
Context matters.

Currently in the process of updating our writing journey for Key Stage 3. Whilst I'm currently looking at the National Curriculum to help form this, what knowledge and processes should we expect our students to have already gained in primary as far as the below are concerned?

Reassured by this excellent, sensible new report. I had felt we were drifting back to the bad all days of assuming vulnerable students always need DIFFERENT.
Instead, systematic assessment of need, high quality, evidence informed interventions and ongoing monitoring of impact 👌
I’ve now read the new EEF report on inclusive teaching.
It reinforces what we know. Inclusive teaching isn’t about lowering the bar or creating endless bolt on strategies.
It’s about getting the core of classroom practice right for every pupil, then making ‘in the moment’ purposeful and responsive adaptations.
High expectations, strong teaching and inclusion should never be seen as competing priorities. They all underpin high quality teaching for ALL.
