We used our play-dough to review physical features! Showering a few of my students creations: an island, archipelago, peninsula and mountains! We had way too much fun with this @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
All prepared to make homemade play dough tomorrow! We will be using it to explore physical features: landforms and bodies of water! @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
A hard lesson was learned today. Feel free to browse this “Directions Test” and let me know what you think. Make sure to check out #20…. The kids really liked that one. @OPS_Davis
We started our Pioneer Journals today where students are telling the story of their character moving West. We have some gold miners hungry for gold, pioneers looking for land, and immigrants looking for a better life. @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
We rewrote the rules of UNO to mimic Monarchy, Oligarchy, and Tyranny in Ancient Greece! Ancient Civilizations can be so much fun! We had Kings making crazy rules and Tyrants taking over by force! @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
When you learn about the California Gold Rush, it’s only right to experience just how difficult it is to pan for gold! @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
We played CLUE and used our knowledge about the Louisiana Purchase to figure out the murderer, weapon, and location. The 8th graders ‘killed it’ with this activity. @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies
Today my 8th graders used Legos to RECONSTRUCT the South after the Civil War ended. Students decided fixing the rail roads, homes, and new businesses would be the best way to help the South & 4 million newly freed slaves start a new life after the war @OPS_Davis @OPS_SocStudies

Farewell, sir.
You did, indeed, fight the good fight and get into a lot of good trouble.
You served God and humanity well.
Thank you.
Take your rest.

I hope schools keep in mind that most students haven't seen their classmates in 6 months. Don't punish kids for being kids when they get back in the classroom. They will want to talk, ,laugh, play, share experiences. Hopefully schools are making adjustments for this to happen.
Thunderstorms in Northwest Omaha trying to put a damper on our Summer School reading lesson today! The storms are bad, but we are still out here learning @OPSMortonMagnet @MMMSLibrary

Kids might like you as a teacher for your personality, your charisma, your excitement and energy for what you do.
But they’ll respect you for your character, your courage, your standing for equality, justice, and truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
