“Beware of feelings that aren’t based on facts” - a mantra I can get behind especially when applied to climate change & confronting the all too familiar overwhelming sense of despair that can come in this work. There’s room for optimism yet - theguardian.com/environment/… via @guardian

PS. There's a survey in that article asking if Pittsburgh needs more bike lanes. You all know what to do.

Pretty wild to see people imply there's going to be a "next time" for climate legislation. I mean, sure, you can technically pass a climate bill whenever. 2100, even. But I think the nature of the problem has eluded you.

"American shopping is a runaway train, gliding smooth and frictionless down the tracks toward God knows what over the horizon. Your brakes are small, but you can throw them whenever you want.” - theatlantic.com/technology/a…
Great to see the conversation around recycled plastics shift beyond “Ocean Bound” to include the people responsible for stopping plastic from reaching the ocean.
Informal waste collectors are responsible for 60% of global recycling. We imagine a world where they have safe working conditions, inclusion, & dignified livelihoods. @nxtwaveplastics has released a #socialresponsibility framework for Ocean Bound Plastics: bit.ly/2Xv9nQa

I listened to this entire conversation about "the ethical questions around charitable giving" and NOT ONCE was there a mention of what vulnerable or struggling communities want or need from the philanthropic world. nyti.ms/3DeeX8A

Meal delivery in La Creole, Les Cayes 🇭🇹 This community in southern Haiti was impacted by the 7.2 earthquake nearly a week ago. Many houses have sustained damage—some families have since been staying outside. We brought fresh meals with our partners @doWorkorg & @FirstMileImpact.

Our team spent the day locating our collectors and their families and completing assessments on damages to their homes and their physical and mental wellbeing. 100% of the families we visited sustained major damages to their homes that will require repairs.
