Akho need ke Bantase for this statement. Sizoba right. Dying on feet than living on knees, and so on and so forth and stuff like that.
It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible.

Ah, good old fashioned pre-emptive journalism, my old friend.
The Democratic Alliance is leading the City of Tshwane voting results with 33.9%, followed by the African National Congress at 24.9%, as residents’ voting preferences emerge. Tune in to #eNCA on #DStv403.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The figures are from an eNCA/MarkData pre-election opinion poll of voting intentions for the November 4 local government elections, not actual results. No votes have been cast yet in Tshwane.

Navi Pillay wins the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize! ✨️ That makes it four for RSA! (Yes, I don't count De Klerk...undeserved...sue me😏)
2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay’s commitment to universal legal principles and her firm moral compass are constants in a long career. Born into a family of Indian Tamil origin under apartheid in Durban, South Africa, Pillay became a lawyer and legal pioneer, confronting deep structural discrimination, segregation and exclusion. A common thread runs from her early work defending Nelson Mandela and others who stood up against apartheid to her service as a judge in some of the key international court cases of our time.
This year’s laureate has significantly enlarged the scope and impact of international law. She has served as a judge on the High Court in South Africa, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court. She was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and, until recently, she chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Today Navi Pillay is a judge on the International Court of Justice in the case where Myanmar stands accused of genocide.
In historic international court cases, she has shown that legal measures can help prevent acts of war and violence. Navi Pillay has also contributed to strengthen the institutions of international law. Her independence, expertise and steadfastness have made her one of the most respected international jurists of our time.

Ntate @ClaysonMonyela, I know I'm abusing your X platform but re kopa thuso hle. We are hosting a delegation from the ACHPR tomorrow ("we" being the @InforegulatorSA). As bomakhelwane, we'd like to borrow an AU flag. Sadly, we can't get through to the fine folk at "Multilaterals"
26 years of the Protected Disclosures Act, yet employers still respond with this type of uninformed action. Sad really.
Strength to you, Mhlekazi.
The same Acting Director General who I reported corruption to, and after, he ignored me until I went out, only appointing Bowmans when they came to take a statement on my disclosure ( where they refused to drink my bottled watery fearing danger )
Has suspended me: I asked him this morning why he wants to fall because of Msibi.
May 2026 be the last year that this unruly and anti-social behavior tolerated. I've seen many videos of informal traders and hawkers getting their products drenched. How many families will go to bed hungry because if this "tradition of harmless fun by children"?
For shame!
The nerve.
Newly released CCTV footage shows a Cessna colliding with a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter at Carlisle Airport on August 19. The helicopter was hovering after a training flight when the light aircraft struck its tail and main rotor. Both officers on board were injured and later released from hospital. The Cessna pilot was killed. Investigators found no mechanical fault on either aircraft

I'm so confused. So does this mean the genocide is over? 🤷
[LISTEN] Cabinet says South Africans who were allegedly denied United States visas after claiming a "white genocide" in South Africa are welcomed home irrespective of differing political views.

The scary thought that an anti-corruptoon agency can arrest a civilian upon suspicion that she may commit a crime...in the future! This is not what some of us had in mind when we took up the fight against corruption. I'm not liking what I see coming out this IDAC.
[WATCH] IDAC head Adv. Andrea Johnson admits she was wrong about the qualifications of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele. She also apologises and withdraws her statement which called Mokwele's appointment a "token". #Newzroom405
Nah, don't fold, fam. It was a rare moment of candour. You showed us who you are.
You looked at the mirror, pumped the chest and looked back at us and said "Look upon my works..." and so and so forth.
Don't fold, fam.
A note on FM/Currency and inclusion:
The FM and Currency teams wanted to address the discussion on social media about the picture we posted as part of announcing our merger.
We got this wrong. The image did not simply create the wrong impression, it reflected a newsroom that is not yet diverse enough. That falls short of what South Africa should expect from an influential business publication and of the standard we have set for ourselves.
As we build the combined Financial Mail and Currency newsroom, increasing the representation and advancement of Black journalists and editors will be a priority across recruitment, commissioning, mentorship and leadership.
This has prompted a necessary conversation about who tells South Africa’s business story, whose perspectives shape coverage and who sits in the rooms where editorial decisions are made. We have heard the criticism, and we will act on it.
The FM and Currency
I applaud the honesty. As Gogo Angelou once put it: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. People know themselves much better than you do. That's why it's important to stop expecting them to be something other than who they are."
I believe you FM.

Wait, what?!?! I honestly read "Mitch McConnell" on this post. I thought McConnell was the one for whom arrangements were being made for a rendezvous with the Grim Reaper.
