I’m having a fun time driving across America in an EV vlogging about what it’s like to road trip in an electric vehicle and stopping at a bunch of the important manufacturing facilities along the way. This website is a good place to keep up with the trip and see the videos and get automatic updates when we post something. evsforallamerica.org/great-e…

Rubbing it in ... hard.
The voters have spoken, and I want to extend my congratulations to James Talarico on his election to the U.S. Senate. I look forward to meeting him and offering my assistance with his transition as he prepares to serve Texans in the U.S. Senate.

I've seen enough: Annie Andrews has won the South Carolina Senate race (only time I get to beat Wasserman on something. Thanks Greenville!)
Darline might be toast. Rural and small town numbers are atrocious. Dog on linoleum, as they used to say.

Skimming X this am, I am convinced the new flag of the DNC should be a nervous Doomcaster sitting at their social media keyboard furiously typing in a last-minute panic about murky early voting numbers…. Helpful Hint from ex-GOPer brass: going into Election Day, think more like this: youtu.be/PS5yfhPGaWE?is=ddby… That is all.

THE BIG DOG SPEAKS: A bit more from my chat w @BillClinton in Tupelo on Friday, after his rally for @scott_colom In today's @playbookdc Bill Clinton may be 80 but, as his old campaign anthem goes, he's still thinking about tomorrow. Clinton is expecting a big night for Democrats Tuesday and compared this midterm to his own favorite, 1998. His party made sweeping gains that year in the South thanks to strong Black turnout and won races there they've not prevailed in ever since. Yet the former president also had some advice for how his party should interpret their success this week: use the results to start rebuilding the battered Democratic brand. “If we have a good election, and I think we will, we have to realize that that's the opportunity to establish trust — not the ability to take it for granted,” Clinton said. The party should keep in mind that the reason they won in unlikely places was in part because of the candidates they ran. “Democrats have gotten smarter in much of the country in the people they’re recruiting and the campaigns they’re running and we’re actually reaching out to people,” Clinton said. He singled out Adam Hamilton, the Methodist pastor and Kansas Democrat who could stage a historic Senate upset. “This preacher in Kansas,” Clinton called him. “The fact that he agreed to do this is amazing. And he could win. Even if he doesn't, he will change the politics of Kansas.” As important is how Republicans respond to a thorough defeat. Clinton pointed out that House GOP members who survive will likely hail from deep-red districts and will be less inclined to break from Trump because “their next election is the primary of 2028.” Clinton said “you'll be able to tell more with the [GOP] senators” reaction to a wave. That's both because they have the security of six-year terms and represent broader electorates. For Republicans to start breaking with Trump, though, Clinton said: “It's going to have to be a thumper.” Why? Because politicians “never change unless the voters change them.”

The world's switch to electric cars. 🌍 60 countries, about 72 million new cars a year. Over the last 12 months, 19.8% of new cars were BEV. The fitted model (exclusively dependent on past data) has BEV passing ICE in mid-2030 and reaching 50% a year later. 80% takes until around 2043 if the BEV transition continues without systematic change, which will almost assuredly not be the case, as I see this more as a lower limit. PHEV peaks at about 13% in 2028 and then fades.

Seems like a good time to point out that in a high profile campaign with well known candidates nothing is usually less important than endorsements…

I’ve known Haley Stevens for a long time. Until now, she has always had staff to protect her, prop her up, and keep her safe from her own irrational behavior. What we’re seeing now? This is just raw, unfiltered Haley. The Haley who flip-flops and goes from thought to thought without rhyme or reason. The Haley that calls you at 3 AM to yell at you, and then calls you back at 5 AM oblivious to the fact that she even spoke with you at 3 AM. The Haley who bends to the last and loudest voice that tells her something. More often than not that last voice is now her fiancé. And as you can see by what one of her former staff people posted earlier here on X, that appears to potentially be a really troubling relationship. Up until this point, other than a joke I made on X a few days ago, I wasn't going to say anything public about Haley Stevens or how she has comported herself since the primary. It not only wasn't appropriate, I would never, ever want anyone to think I was speaking for or on behalf of my wife. But Haley's erratic choices mean I can no longer be silent about my interactions with her since the primary ended. I approached Haley in the middle of September about putting her name to an Op-Ed attacking Mike Rogers for his unwillingness to denounce the antisemitic members of his own team, the $10 million in support he's received from Christian nationalist Tim Dunn, and his steadfast opposition to a woman's right to choose. The goal of the Op-Ed was to remind members of the Jewish community that Mike Rogers doesn't align with our values. The proposed Op-Ed never mentioned Abdul. The only thing it asked for was to not vote for Mike Rogers. Initially she was very interested in it. Then she wasn't. Then she was again. Then she wasn't. She never signed it. Literally the bare minimum - attack MAGA Mike Rogers, the guy who would have been running against you had you won the primary. And that was over a month ago. This is nothing new. This is just who Haley is. By the way, here's the Op-Ed that she wouldn't let me publish.
