When Iltudus Thomas Pritchard while travelling through Rajputana came to Merta (in Marwar) in 1857, he found that the entire town had been devastated by the misgovernment of the Mughalputs. The town was only half populated, and more than half of its houses lay in ruins. Even the wretched little shops of the poor Baniyas displayed all those signs of poverty and want of trade that were so characteristic of Eastern cities which had been depopulated by misrule and allowed gradually to fall into decay through the neglect and tyranny of their rulers. Seeing all this, the writer’s heart sank somewhat within him. Today, mughalputs like @prthwii @Kaladin_04 often speak as though something immeasurable was taken from them after 1947. Yet perhaps they ought instead to be grateful that the burden of governing a modern state was taken from their shoulders. Those who had struggled even to administer the relatively simple political structures of the pre-modern world could hardly have been expected to master the immense complexity of a modern state, with its elaborate institutions, constitutional restraints, bureaucratic machinery, and systems of accountability. In that sense, the modern Indian state may be regarded as having done them a certain service: it relieved them not only of the burden of creating institutions, but also of the far more difficult responsibility of making those institutions function. Running a modern state was hardly within the demonstrated capacity of the Mughalputs. Those who had already proved unequal to the demands of effective governance in the past could scarcely be expected to acquire, merely by the passage of time, the institutional capacity required to govern a modern state.

It is explicitly stated that while Subhatavarman DESTROYED many Jaina temples (& mosque), he merely REMOVED the gold pitchers of Vaidyanath Temple and carried them away to Malwa. If anything, @Mythpreneur has only further substantiated my point regarding Subhatavarman destroying only Jaina temples, not the Hindu ones.

Maharajadhiraja Subhatavarman Paramara was a staunch Hindu Emperor — often described in epigraphs as pious & devoted to religious practices. You forgot to mention that all of these temples plundered by him were 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮 ones, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂. He even destroyed mosque built by Arabs in Cambay. Despite the Paramaras traditionally following 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙫𝙖 sect of worship, Subhatavarman donated 2 royal gardens (𝙑𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙠𝙖) for the use of the temple of Lord Vishnu. Now that I’ve exposed @Mythpreneur’s half-baked propaganda, let us appreciate him for acknowledging the fact that Imperial Paramaras of Malwa were Rajputs.
