some Kayn fans try very hard to defend Rhaast, trying to claim that he isn‘t the bum Darkin that he actually is
Here‘s why Rhaast is a bum:
Kayn Defenders Argument Nr. 1:
"Rhaast isn‘t weak, Kayn is just really strong"
Kayn is an expert martial artist and he did master every weapon available, which is impressive on a human level, but against a Darkins blood magic and mind control, it doesn‘t matter wether or not you can use the nunchucks really well
when it comes to Kayns Shadow Magic, he is good at using it, BUT canonically he is NOT stronger than Zed yet (and Zed isn‘t the most impressive character, he basically only had beef with his master and Shen while struggling to keep Jhin in jail lol)
Shadow Magic itself also doesn‘t have a history of big feats (as far as I have read), it is a big reach to try and claim that a Shadow Magic User like Kayn that is inferior to Zed would be able to control a strong Darkin with it, this would upscale Zed to literal God Level and that makes no sense really
some people have also said "well Kayn has a very strong WILL, so he can withstand Rhaast"
I mean come on, this isn't Green Lantern, wtf does "will" even qualify as and how do you measure shit like that? on top of that, Kayn isn't a day above 19 years old, let's try and stay serious, if Kayn was this honed old man that developed wisdom and strong will, then I would have some sympathy for that take but Rhaast is just a bum
Kayn isn't this experienced sharpened mental monk, he has the attitude of a cocky edgy anime teen, he acts ouf of arrogance, emotion, and hubris
Kayn Defenders Argument Nr. 2:
"Rhaast literally fought Zaahen for days"
that is actually true, in Zaahens lore, it did say that him and Rhaast where fighting for multiple days and nights, Rhaast even managed to land a fatal blow on Zaahen, which pissed him off enough to the point of ending the fight pretty much instantly after that
people ignore the context of that fight, the fight didn't last so long because Zaahen "struggled" vs Rhaast, but rather because Zaahen downscales himself by feeling pity, being sad and trying to reason with the Darkin he fights, he was basically holding back against Rhaast until he had no choice but to deal the fatal blow
if Zaahen was bloodlusted, he would one tap Rhaast easily
Zaahen would not be able to afford such feelings when facing Aatrox or Xolaani, he would have to go all out instantly against those 2 or otherwise lose
and last but not least, it is literally impossible to imagine Kayn being able to wield Darkin Aatrox, Xolaani or Zaahen
Kayn would be consumed immediately, that fact alone downscales Rhaast
I think Kayn would possibly be able to wield lower Tier Darkin like Varus or Naafiri
but the difference between those Darkin and Rhaast, is that Rhaast has no accomplishments except for that one fight against Zaahen, which I already explained, wasn't really a proper fight
Rhaast is a bum, I am sorry, I'll die on that hill
when I made the Darkin Tierlist, I actually read all of the lore again and I realized once more how absolute PEAK Joraal would be as a melee support Champion
not only is he a high ranking Captain and Tactician for Aatrox
but he is also the most disturbed and mentally destroyed Darkin since he fought at the very front of the war against the Void
Once he was sealed into his own shield, he was buried below what would eventually become Demacia in the future
after millennia he ended up as a relic inside the house of a noble demacian family named "Fortis" and he was passed down for generations as a form of safekeeping
Joraal was eventually freed one day after the youngest son of the family (estimated to be below the age of 10) ended up touching the shield and becoming Joraals current host
I‘d like to imagine that this incident also probably lead to the demise of that house and the rest of the family
not only is this tragic and epic enough already, but this short dialogue where you can read the mother scolding the boy after she caught him trying to climb up to the shield one day just gave me the rest
THIS is the type of shit that gets me excited, not a fucking boyband
