Very soon English teachers will be asked to include drama in the curriculum. Not sure what that will look like but many have not had opportunities to discover how to use drama in lessons, other than reenactments. Keep an eye on @NationalDrama & @NATEfeed websites for support.

But it’s especially hard for ECTs, I do appreciate. @OnceaHead mentored and appointed many, as well as working as a Teach First tutor for a number of years, so he really does get it. I’m hoping to do some work with @NATEfeed this year on supporting ECTs too.

Reading is about the relationship between reader and book but also about the relationship between reader and reader. To broaden the reading community my pupils are part of, this morning they all wrote reading postcards for children at another school.

I'm delighted to be included in the latest issue of Teaching English magazine as the winner of the @NATEfeed Primary Award. It's lovely to have my work recognised, and I'm even more pleased that it creates another opportunity to highlight the value of reading for pleasure.

I was pleased to run a drama workshop at the NATE conference & my colleagues from @National_Drama had some positive conversations with teachers about the contribution drama can make to English. The day was wonderful and I look forward to reading every word of this mag.

This bear was a prop in my used at a drama workshop at the NATE conference this week. We need to bring texts to life via drama It acts like a zip wire into texts. Claws them off the page and makes them live.
