Story Time
Someone I have patronized over the years, a colleague that would sometimes reach out to me whenever she had some items for sale, recently gave me a shock waves to always fear humans.
This shock waves is not the one to keep this said person at arms length but run with my might and strength, this made me had a rethink on how to live with humans. Like this person I always patronize her anytime she reaches out to me, even when I don’t have a need for it. This same person has never bought a dime from me but what’s my own? Women supporting women okwaya? 🤷🏽♀️ This same person would see me at the usual brand training, would want me to be around her even with my introverted nature with full hesitation my instinct would so loud that people around me could hear her but because the love of Christ is shed abroad in our heart (Roman 5:5) okwaya? Ok. I shrugged and joined the team even when I’m not comfortable! You see in life, always listen to that still small voice when you are not sure of the happenings around you. After-all we were close colleagues not friends o, apparently we were at par at work, there was a time this colleague invited me to a house party which I declined because of distance or so I couldn’t make it. The colleagueship grew tighter she sent me a friend request on LinkedIn, I accepted. From time to time we sent ourselves opportunities she sent I sent we even made recommendations o, she recommended jobs I did same because I like to reciprocate good gestures too, my mind would not be at rest if you are impactful to me and I did nothing even if it’s a “pure water sachet” thank you I will eventually return the favor/appreciation , biko don’t judge me it’s my nature incase you can’t relate just focus on what works for you and keep it moving 🤗okay let’s ride on, you good ? Hope I am not boring you with my story? Ma bi nu.. inugo? Beni🥴
One certain morning I woke up and was going through my whatsapp status and saw a post from this said colleague that she feels like some people are monitoring her in my mind who are the people and why are they monitoring her 🤷🏽♀️ I replied with a smiling smiley she didn’t respond.
Well it’s unlike her but I kept it moving. Earlier before her status update I got a LinkedIn email alert like most of you do if you chose to receive email notification from Linkedin okay let’s ride on…. So when I got the email notification I clicked and it took me to her page I didn’t even spend much time there because I’m not one who likes to be in people’s business. From time to time if not few times once I get notifications I click and checked from different people who are also sending invitations and what not.
You see some human beings??? Fear them and fear them again I don’t care if you are in church everyday lifting up unholy hands maybe holy hands I don’t know God should be the judge. So she reached out to me, remember I saw her status and sent a message with a laughing emoji not knowing her post was for me, innocent me 🤣 not like we had any issue o, remember my patronages from this same person o, when I was buying stuff from her I was not a monitoring spirit, when she sent me a LinkedIn request I wasn’t, most times I was forced to buy what I actually do not need I was not a monitoring spirit then,
When I reposted every of her business flier I wasn’t a monitoring spirit. Oh Chim 🤔but because I checked a LinkedIn profile which came as a notification I became a monitoring spirit.
Omg I was shocked and run away. You see why you need to set boundaries? You see why access shouldn’t be given to people with emotions?
You see why your circle should be small and meaningful? You see why you shouldn’t give out your all thinking you are helping but the slightest ignorant from their part they tag you unprintable names? Continue reading 👇

If you wear gel polish, I want you to read this.
Gel polish has been in the news lately because Europe has banned an ingredient used in some gel products.
And honestly, when I started seeing all this conversation about gel polish again, I remembered what happened to my toenails for years.
Whenever I had gel polish on my toenails, something strange would happen.
My actual nails would become brittle.
Then they would start breaking.
Not the polish. My actual nail.
Sometimes the nail would break so deeply that it became painful.
At first, I thought it was my nail technician.
So I changed my nail technician.
It happened again.
I changed again.
I even changed states after sometime and got another nail tech
Same thing.
And here’s the part that really made me stop and think.
Even if I hadn’t used gel polish for a long time, once I put it on again, the same thing would happen.
Eventually, I stopped using gel polish on my toenails.
So now I’m seeing all this news about gel polish and I’m wondering:
Could there be more to gel polish than the ingredient they are talking about?
Because we’re hearing a lot about the ingredient that has been banned, but I’m interested in something else too.
Can gel polish itself cause problems for the natural nail in ways we’re not talking about enough?
Because if you’ve ever experienced your nails becoming brittle, peeling or breaking after using gel polish, you may have wondered about this too.
Has anyone else experienced what I experienced?
Because I spent years thinking it was my nail technician.
Maybe it wasn’t.
And honestly, I want to understand what was happening to my nails.

She thought she was just going to buy a phone until something happened that broke her heart.
A woman by the name Jane, went to buy a fairly used iPhone from a seller she found online. She had saved for months because she wanted to replace her old phone.
When she arrived, the seller handed her the phone and everything looked perfect.
But before paying, she decided to check the phone properly.
The battery health looked good. The camera worked. Face ID worked. Everything seemed fine.
Then she checked the IMEI.
The phone had been reported stolen.
She immediately asked the seller about it.
Instead of apologising, the seller became defensive and told her, Madam, if you don’t want it, leave it.
She walked away.
She later said, “That day taught me something: sometimes a deal looks too good because someone else is hoping you won’t ask questions.”
Always check before you pay. A cheap phone can become a very expensive mistake.

Just remembered the day my roommate in university was accused of stealing and almost burnt alive. 😭 I was still on campus when my phone started ringing.
“Come home! They’re beating your roommate! They said she stole money!”
I ran as fast as I could.
When I got to the house, I saw students, some indigenous people, and a crowd gathered around my roommate. She was in the middle of everyone, completely naked.
I froze.
I honestly didn’t even know what to do. My first thought was to run because I was scared they would assume I was involved too. Then I thought about calling her parents.
Before I could even take a step, they spotted me.
“Come and see! You’re living with a thief!”
At least they didn’t think I stole with her. 😭
I asked what happened.
Apparently, she had visited a friend who had just discovered that ₦108,000 meant for her school fees was missing from her bag. My roommate had been there earlier.
When the friend called to ask about the money, she completely denied taking it. So the friend reported the matter to the community youth leader.
That morning, they came to search our apartment. And somehow, the entire ₦108,000 was found under our bed.
I was speechless.
After a lot of pleading and begging, they eventually let her go. I was terrified to live with her after that.
The moment the semester ended, I asked her to leave. It wasn’t even as if she was paying rent, I had only accommodated her.
Now here is the crazy part.
She didn’t become famous on campus because of the stealing allegation.
No.
The naked video of her had gone viral around campus, and suddenly every man wanted to “know” her. 😭
Men started coming to my house almost every day with gifts, food, drinks and all sorts of things, trying to convince her to date them.
Fast-forward several years…The same girl is now married to one of Lagos’ big boys, travelling around the world and living an absolutely beautiful life.
And me?
I have never stolen a dime in my life. I was never publicly disgraced. And I’m still here. 😂😭
Life really has a wicked sense of humour.
Sometimes I genuinely wonder if being a good person comes with a delayed reward or if I just missed my own turn.

Melissa Blake’s story ❤️
Melissa Blake is a writer and disability advocate who became the target of cruel online comments because of her appearance.
After one person told her she was “too ugly” to post photos of herself, Melissa decided she wasn’t going to hide.
Instead, she posted selfies — and when the trolls kept talking, she posted even more. 😂
Her response eventually went viral, turning an attempt to shame her into a powerful lesson about confidence, self-worth and refusing to let strangers on the internet decide how you should feel about yourself.
Sometimes the best response to people who want you to shrink is simply to keep showing up. ❤️

The longer you live, the more lonely life gets. All my dad’s age mates are all dead. All of them. He is 90+ years now. We thought he was 87 but his kinsmen used their own means to recompute his age.

He walked into the ring that night in April 2015 like a young man who still believed the future was something you could punch your way into.
Prichard Colón. Twenty two years old. Undefeated. Fast hands, quiet confidence, that sharp Puerto Rican pride sitting right on his shoulders. People were already whispering his name. This one, they said.
This one has it.
That night he faced Daniel Calzada. It wasn’t supposed to be the fight that defined him. It was just another step. Another win. He took it the way he took most of them with pressure, with power, with that cold focus in his eyes. You can see it in the photos. The green gloves. The sweat. The way he’s leaning in, mouth open, already knowing the round belongs to him.
He stopped Calzada in the ninth. Another notch. Another night where the dream still felt close enough to touch.
Nobody in that arena knew what was coming six months later.
October 17, 2015. Fairfax, Virginia. A different opponent. Terrel Williams. Same undefeated record. Same hunger. But something went wrong that night. Illegal punches to the back of the head — rabbit punches again and again. Colón complained.
The referee didn’t stop it. The doctor cleared him when he said he felt dizzy. His corner, confused, pulled his gloves off thinking the fight was over when it wasn’t.
He walked out of the ring under his own power.
Then he collapsed in the dressing room.
He suffered a serious brain injury. Emergency surgery followed. He remained in a coma for 221 days. When he woke up, the young man who used to move like water was gone. He couldn’t walk. He couldn’t speak. For the next eleven years, his parents became his full-time caregivers. They talked to him. They played music. They fought for him in court. They never stopped believing some part of him was still in there.
On August 13, 2026, Prichard Colón finally left this world at thirty-three years old.
The same kid who once stood in the center of the ring with green gloves and fire in his eyes spent the last decade of his life in a hospital bed, fighting a battle no one could see.
That’s the untold part.
Not the highlight. Not the knockout.
The quiet years.
The mother who never left his side.
The father who still called him “my son” like the future hadn’t been stolen.
Boxing gave him a name.
It also took almost everything else.
And somehow, even after all of that, people still look at those old photos and feel something tight in their chest because they know that young man in the green gloves never got to finish his story the way he was supposed to.
That’s the mystery.
Not what happened in the ring.
What happened after the lights went out. #viralvídeo

The story surrounding the late Cambridge professor, Jason Arday, is deeply heartbreaking.
His journey from facing significant challenges in his early life to becoming a history-making professor at Cambridge was remarkable. But in the final period of his life, his career came under intense public scrutiny following questions about aspects of his academic work and credentials.
He later resigned from Cambridge and was found dead in London at the age of 41.
At this time, it is important to be careful with the word “suicide.” His death was reported as unexpected and was not being treated as suspicious; the circumstances should not be assumed beyond what authorities have confirmed.
Beyond the controversy, there was a human being at the centre of it all.
It is a reminder that behind every headline, accusation and social-media discussion is a person with emotions, family and a life beyond the screen.
We can hold people accountable for their actions without losing our humanity.
May his loved ones find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
