NMMI recently hosted the 2026 General’s Cup Leadership Forum to welcome home five distinguished alumni general officers. LTG Johnny Davis, MG Miguel Aguilar, BG Kallie D. Kuehl, BG Carper, and BG Ethan Diven participated in a panel moderated by NMMI President and Superintendent BG (Ret.) Voris W. McBurnette. The panelists answered one central question for our Corps: "Where will NMMI take you?" The powerful lessons they shared helped our Cadets envision their own futures, and motivated them to continue working, learning, and leading. #WeAreNMMI #CorpsofCadets #NewMexicoMilitaryInstitute

Marking the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the NMMI Corps of Cadets paused to observe multiple moments of silence of the days horrific events from 6:46am MDT until 8:28am MDT. The day’s solemn tribute was punctuated by the dedicated cadence of the NMMI Centennial Flame Guard and the notes of Echo Taps from the cadet bugler during each observed timestamp. These moments served as powerful reminders of the ultimate sacrifices that continue to shape our nation, our military, and our purpose here at the Institute. We will never forget.

25 years ago on September 11, 2001, four commercial airplanes were hijacked in a coordinated terrorist attack against the United States. Two planes were flown into the Twin Towers in New York City. A third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, DC. On the fourth plane, passengers and crew fought the hijackers, causing the plane to crash into an empty rural field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In an hour and forty-two minutes, 2,977 innocent people lost their lives. The 9/11 attacks were the deadliest attacks on American soil since the attack at Pearl Harbor. As a memorial to the tragedy of 9/11, we will pause, play Taps, and offer a moment of silence during the time each of the events that occurred that day. The flame guard will also be marching. 6:46 AM (MDT) – Flight 11 crashes into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. 7:03 AM (MDT) – Flight 175 crashes into the World Trade Center’s South Tower. 7:37 AM (MDT) – Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. 7:59 AM (MDT) – The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapses. 8:02 AM (MDT) – Flight 93 plows into an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 8:28 AM (MDT) – The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses.
