ABC Investigations reports new aged care residents are being charged for TV, butter and a hot breakfast under the federal government’s Higher Everyday Living Fees. In March the Aged Care Minister called TV access a “basic human right”. His own policy says otherwise. NPAA president Kara Thomas has already taken this to Cairns Regional Council, pushing for better lighting, parking permits and safer options for hospital staff. As she put it, “Nurses deserve to feel safe arriving at and leaving their workplace. Their lives, and the care they provide to your community, depend on it.” We're pushing for good lighting, working CCTV, duress alarms on walkways, and car parking that doesn't punish you for showing up to work.
