Help us congratulate Sgt Luke Kelley #167 on his promotion in @NSP_TroopC.
Such an awesome moment to share with his family and our NSP team!
It's Halloween week! 🎃
Parents, remind yourselves that some costumes — similar to puffy coats — have excess material and can prevent a car seat from keeping your child SAFE in a crash.
Don't risk it — change them into their costumes at your destination. 🦄✔️

Even one drink can crash your Halloween party. Plan for a sober ride. 🚗 Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

Let’s not make a scary mistake this Halloween. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Plan for a sober ride home.
A DUI can haunt you for a lifetime.
Between the fines, legal fees, skyrocketing car insurance costs, and doors that can close on future career goals — the nightmare doesn’t end when the case does.
If you drink, skip the fright. Designate BEFORE you celebrate.

Thanks to @NEStatePatrol for hosting post-crash investigation training. Troopers and inspectors from across the U.S. joined for training on CMV inspections. Post-crash inspections help determine if mechanical failures or safety issues with a CMV or driver contributed to a crash.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating two scenes this afternoon in rural Polk and Butler Counties. A search for a homicide suspect resulted in a trooper-involved shooting near David City.
No law enforcement personnel were injured. The suspect is deceased. There is no danger to the public.
Additional details will be released when possible.

Excellent teamwork by numerous agencies to ensure a safe visit to North Platte for the Vice President. The NSP Aviation Unit had a quick moment for a pic with the VP vehicles.
And kudos to the EMTs for their quick response when someone in the crowd had a medical issue.

As the days get shorter, watch for deer on and near the roadway. In 2025, the most deer-related crashes occurred between 6 and 9 p.m., with 379 crashes. Another 288 occurred from 6 to 9 a.m. & 9 p.m. to midnight. Slow down and stay alert.

Spot a car on the roadside with flashing lights? ⚠️ Slow Down and Move Over! It's not just for emergency vehicles.
*Check your state's specific Move Over laws.
Saturday is National Move Over Day. 🚓🚒🛻
First responders, tow operators and highway workers put their lives on the line every day to protect ours. Give them the space they need to go home safe.
When you see flashing lights on the side of the road, remember: Slow Down, Move Over
