Barely two months ago, we lost Professor Jason Arday. Thousands grieved. Institutions across higher education spoke about inclusion and belonging.
Now Nathan Cofnas is being given a room at Oriel College, Oxford, to ask whether DEI is undermining higher education.

Shortlisting panels: most candidates could not afford unpaid experience, so judge them on what they have done instead. Senior practitioners: answer the email from a stranger, write the reference, make the introduction. Juniors: keep replying to the students one step behind you.

#NationalComingOutDay
My Coming Out Day(s):
(1) 22 April 1989 -14 years-old connecting the dots of my childhood feeling of “difference” with my recognition of “attraction” during puberty (🙏🏾 Channel Four, Derek Jarman, Sebastiane);
(2) 31 May 1996 - coming out to my mother - could no longer lead a double-life;
(3) Autumn 1996, - to the “outside world” - on TV - Esther - “Secrets and Lies”;
(4) 14 Feb 1998/Summer/Autumn 1998 - to my Inn/pupillage applications/interviews;
(4) December 1999 - as a pupil in Chambers, on the dance floor of the Groucho Club at the Christmas Party (I do despise stereotypes, really, I do … 🕺🏾); and
(5) Almost every day …
I have the freedom to come out, whilst my LGBTIQ+ Refugee clients are faced with a real risk of torture, including in some cases so-called “curative” rape, or murder. This is why today is so important, reminding me what I take for granted, enabling and empowering me to live “freely and openly”, must apply to everyone.

Jefferson Fisher says when someone is grieving, never start with "Let me know if." His advice: "Whatever you thought about doing, go do it."

I have had to cancel a credit card recently due to another retailer emailing me about their third party payment provider having unauthorised access to their systems.
What are retailers going to do about the rise in hacking and data breaches?
BREAKING: ASOS customers have received a push notification saying the e-commerce giant had been 'hacked'
Sky's Phoebe Southworth has the details.

🚨 Rape culture doesn’t begin and end with an act of sexual violence.
It lives in the:
🔴 attitudes that excuse it
🔴 stereotypes that blame survivors
🔴 silence that protects perpetrators
There is #NoExcuse for abuse — or for the culture that lets rape culture persist.

Black communities do more than help us survive racism. They help us remain whole. 🖤
Racial wellness is collective resistance: protecting Black minds, affirming Blackness and creating space for rest, joy and healing.
This #BlackHistoryMonthUK, we’re Honouring Our Communities.

If you’re a Black British legal professional I really think you should put yourself out there if you specialise in employment law. We really do need protection navigating these environments. People need to know their rights and how to act on them.

Today marks 5 years since the murder of Sabina Nessa. Our thoughts are with Sabina’s family and friends during this difficult time.
This is a dark day in our borough's history and serves as a reminder of the work we must all do to end male violence against women.
