The Democrats sure spent a lot of money to gerrymander the state of Virginia.
Data tied to coverage from The New York Times shows Democrats pouring in roughly $56 million while Republicans spent about $25 million, more than a 2 to 1 gap, for what looks like a narrow 3 point margin.
Even in the final stretch, the gap barely closed. Republicans only edged Democrats by about $300,000 in the last week, nowhere near enough to offset the earlier flood of cash.
