Patience in Scripture isn't the passive acceptance as we use it today.
It's a military word: the stoutheartedness of a soldier in battle.
He knows what's coming, he's prepared for it, and he's just waiting for it to go down.
So if I take another person's name by marriage or by adoption (whether legal or relational)
then
How do we "Take the Lord's Name"?
And what does it mean to Take the Lord's Name in vain"?
Matthew 9:35: Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
It seems that the essence of Jesus’ ministry was pretty simple: Go, Preach, Heal.
I was taught for decades, first by Presbyterians, then by Evangelicals, that it was heresy to claim any glory, that "touching God's glory" was a mortal sin.
I've concluded that these were Pharisaical teaching: fences around places where things could go wrong.
A reasonable question.
Is this an example of hiding our heads in the sand?
Your Bible is full of angels and demons. Why do we read it as if it isn’t? christianpost.com/voices/you…
Religion is often found to be liar that calls good evil, and evil good. We ought to listen the Bridegroom rather than religion.
Have you encountered those "teachers" and "prophets" who seem to think it's their job to talk about all the bad stuff that's happening, that might happen.
And they think they're representing the God who loved you enough to die for you.
Fishy. Very fishy.
I grew up with the idea that religion shamed or controlled folks to make them act right.
They told me that's how God works. They lied. I was deceived.
My Father isn't about control, & certainly isn't about shame.
Time and time again, he's all about "Here, let me love on you!"
This is an interesting test to run on your X (Twitter) posts over the past year.
Boy is mine different than it was before Elon bought the company!
Under the Hood now shows you which posts received a visibility-limiting label, making it easier to see what’s affected: xitter.gq/i/jf/under_the_hood
This was a top request — thanks for the feedback.
You’ll see the specific posts listed when fewer than 5% of your posts during the report period have that label.
This has been pretty much my declaration over my entire neighborhood for a couple of decades.
The change has been significant.
The point is legitimate, though the delivery is through humor.
There really are a lot of things we can still agree on.
Have you ever been in a spiritual battle?
Substantial temptation?
Did you survive? Are you still alive?
That makes you a veteran, an experienced warrior.
Thinking about how Christians relate to Halloween.
There's way too much hysteria going on out there.
Pretty much a hard and fast rule of mine, too.
(In fact, I often look at her to see how he is doing with God.)
The central pillar of the Christian faith is Jesus.
It's not the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy.
Surprise!
PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Listen to God for a minute or three.
Now prophesy blessing over your city/town & leaders.
A sentence or three will be good, very good.
Quoting Jesus:
"Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out." [John 12:31]
I suspect that the two phrases are together for a reason.
These New Covenant days, the judgment on the world is the "prince of this world" being driven out.
