Important editorial in Nature on the importance of open data for AI for Science. What is your "dream data set" that should exist but doesn't, and why? nature.com/articles/d41586-0…
Well-researched case by @armydoc & colleagues. "In short, technology development should be weighted toward the enhancement of TCCC capabilities, rather than the provision of ICU care on the battlefield." But read the whole thing.

I am so excited for this incredible team of innovators! 🥳 This DARPA program aims to develop a field-deployable, shelf-stable whole blood 🩸 equivalent that can be used to resuscitate trauma patients (p.s., also of importance to patients w/ ☢️ ARS when 🩸 is unavailable).
Thrilled to begin this exciting & innovative life-saving endeavor! Teaming up w #AllanDoctor @UofMaryland @KaloCyte @HaimaThr @PittTTMRC @PhilSpinellaMD @macky_neal @SMSheaLab @CaseEngineer @CWRUBME @CWRUSOM @UAGurkan #HariBaskarn #AndrePalmer @OhioStateCBE

Had a great conversation with @rickdayton (a seasoned donor himself!) about our @DARPA-funded initiative to make dried artificial blood. Delighted to be part of this effort with fantastic colleagues & collaborators! @macky_neal @PhilSpinellaMD @JishnuSenGupta & many more🩸
Are we at the point where we can "make" synthetic blood? The advantages are countless: No need for refrigeration, longer shelf life, fewer human donors. @SMSheaLab was my guest on
@KDKARadio to talk about work being done at @PittTTMRC and @UofMaryland

Proud to be part of the team working on our dried artificial whole blood project. The increased avaialbilty, efficacy and safety for patients with severe bleeding where blood products are not available will translate to many saved lives. #TTMRC
Bleeding is the most common cause of potentially survivable death in trauma, in both military and civilian settings. DARPA has selected a team to begin work on a Field-deployable whole blood equivalent. ow.ly/jVJE50MFBAI
