I’ve been studying chess in a serious way for 5 years.
This thread is about:
1. Why I started this journey
2. My beliefs, skills, tools, process
3. How I made chess study a daily practice and part of my identity
I hope it will help you in your chess journey. 🙏

It can happen even to the Super Grandmasters!
Caruana played 48…Kd6??, and Sindarov responded with 49. a5?
What did they BOTH miss? Can you spot the immediate knockout punch?

Knight moves 🔥
I made a mistake with 13.e5?
13.Re1!
but Knights are tricky in Blitz. 😈

Kitchen Sink vs 1550 player.
I need to analyze this game as Black has several defensive options. 📝

Clean Caro as White. 🫧
Happy with this game. 🙂
Opening knowledge + Tactical awareness + endgame technique = lots of wins. 🔥

Tactical Beauty
White to move. Post either full solution or final move only.

Chaos on the board! ♟️🔥
White to move. The White King appears to be in serious trouble. What is the best continuation for White?

This one took me a while, but it was worth it! White to play.

Sometimes patience is the best approach.
Let them self destruct if the keep moving pawns instead of pieces while you slowing develop your pieces.
Then attack when you are ready. 😈

White to move and gain a winning advantage. 🤔
Happy that I found it during my Blitz game.

I really enjoyed this one. White to play!

Lost this Blitz exchange Caro on time vs 2100 player.
I like these games because I can learn a lot by annotating these types of positional battles. 📝
Losses are often great leaning opportunities.
Next time, I’ll play more confidently and faster. 😅

How to win below 1400.
1. Play solid openings
2. Get pieces to good squares
3. Find basic tactics
4. Trade down when ahead
5. Play solid endgames
All of these 5 skills require training, but achievable for most players.
#chesspunks
Same 5 skills with the Black pieces.
You won’t play perfect games, and you don’t need to.

Space strategy
1. Dominate the terrain
2. Foment hopelessness
3. Reap the harvest 🤗

Alapin vs 1530 player 😊
A good example of why it’s important to review your games. 📝
The anti-positional 10.Ng5! only makes sense when you look several moves deep. 🤔
#chesspunks
Another example tactics eating strategy for breakfast. 😈
In the Ruy Lopez, Steinitz Defense, 5.BxNc6! gives White an advantage (+.8)
because after 5…BxNc6 6.Nc3
Black has no good way to protect the e5 pawn.
#chesspunks
I like this double pawn sac version of the 2 Knights defense.
Lots of ways for White to go wrong. 😊
