If labor created value, digging a hole and filling it back in would be a booming industry. Menger sorted this out in 1871. Marxists are still digging.

I used to review officer-involved shooting reports generated by a D.A. explaining the decision to exonerate officers, and recall often thinking “I mean, could that *really* be how it went down?” I suspected there may be some fog of war or selective memory or post-hoc justification to give the officer a rational justification and paint the victim in a negative, irrational light. But with the post-2020 adoption of body cams, I now believe it all. There is no behavior too insane for a huge number of suspects when confronted with literally any command by an officer requesting some form of compliance. Even I thought body cams would shine a light on some substantial percentage of clear officer abuse, but it’s clearly negligible, while dangerous and erratic behavior by suspects is widespread. It is impossible to overstate how wrong BLM and reform activists were on this count.

Let me explain what Hoppe is actually saying in simpler terms: "It's hypocrisy that Nuremberg trials in 1945 had a lot shittier evidence that wasn't available until 1990s (and later), and Germany has strict laws around talking about and the Holocaust since 1960 (before that 1990s evidence) and despite that unavailable evidence, the Holocaust was treated as a terrible, undeniable crime, while all Gaza evidence IS available- yet it's considered self-defense. Make it make sense!". What Hoppe is NOT claiming: "the Holocaust did not happen". Hoppe is NOT saying revisionists were correct - he's saying EVEN the revisionists aren't denying that the Holocaust was a crime. Hoppe's main point is about state control of narratives, which should be very obvious here. That, states have no problem organizing kangaroo courts 45 years before evidence is fully available, or creating censorship 30 years before evidence appears, when evidence of an atrocity are fully available right now, states claim it's just self-defense.
Dr. Hans-Hermann Hoppe criticizes any comparison between Gaza and the Holocaust, citing the lack of forensic evidence and the nature of the Nuremberg trials in contrast to the videos of Israeli criminality. “Nothing like this happened in WWI. Nothing like this happened in WWII.”

This was the train I used to ride late at night. Would be great if we could get rich liberals on here for a few weeks to show them what societal decline looks like, but you never see them.

For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation: The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls. Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke. Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand. Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel. But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless. So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound. The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation. 15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.

I'm just noticing that there are a grand total of like 1-2 times where I remember that my ex made a genuine compliment to me. The rest was just flirting cuz she was horny or wtv and not much else.
Love this every time it pops up. Men are so rarely complimented. It's a tragedy. I've never met a single man who didn't appreciate a compliment or even awkward flattery. I HAVE met a man who kept a printed copy of an email he got from a girl telling him she appreciated him and thought he was a wonderful person. He never asked her out, tried to date her, or anything he was just thankful and kept it like a prize. I don't know that he ever got rid of it. It was the first time anyone outside of his family had ever done such a thing. READ THAT AGAIN. The first time ANYONE had said that to him and he was a good dude. That shit is crazy to me. On the flip side a girlfriend of mine in college completely lost her temper in the parking lot when we were headed to an event on campus because... another friend of ours, a guy, dared open the car door for her. She berated him for TEN MINUTES...it was insane. I don't remember the event at all, or what happened before, but I'll never forget watching a woman degrade a man like that for something so polite as opening a door for her.. mind you he had opened mine too and it was MY car... he was also a seriously wholesome and awesome guy. We almost dated, but I was a stupid girl, lol. It did help me find a good man later though <3

It's the same pretty much everywhere with rent controls. A story from Berlin:
True in Spain too. Every landlord in Madrid and Barcelona screens the renters now. This is an obvious consequence of rent control. The most vulnerable, ostensible protected by the legislation, are in fact excluded from the rental market: if you cannot be evicted for non payment, then you are too risky a renter.

Karl Marx defined socialism as the collective ownership of the means of production. Nazi Germany nationalized everything for the benefit of the collective. The only difference was that the class struggle was based on race.
