Great assistants, not experts yet. What job would you never hand to AI?
¡Mañana se vota en Florida! 🗳️
Tomorrow is Election Day in Florida 🗳️
Most of us walk in knowing the top two names and guessing on everything else.
So I use AI to build a 5-minute cheat sheet for every race and amendment on my ballot.
Here's exactly how, step by step 👇
Step 1: Grab your real sample ballot. Miami-Dade posts it on the Elections Department site, and every county has one.
Step 2: Paste it into Grok, ChatGPT, whatever you use, with this prompt:
"For each race and amendment on this ballot, tell me what the office or amendment actually does, each candidate's main positions in 2 neutral lines, and the strongest argument for and against. Cite sources. Don't tell me who to vote for."
Step 3: Double-check anything that surprises you against the source. AI can be wrong. It's your vote, not the bot's.
Why bother? Amendments in Florida need 60% to pass. In Stetson's final poll, none of the 3 it tested was there.
Quick facts: polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Go to your assigned precinct. In line by 7? You vote.
What's the one race on your ballot you know the least about?
$115 BILLION. For a company most people have never heard of 🤯
Marvell just agreed to buy Lumentum, the laser maker that moves data between AI chips.
About $1,132 a share in stock, a 23.9% premium.
AI's next bottleneck isn't chips. It's moving the data. Saw this coming?
It got dark at 5:39 tonight in Miami 🌅
Fun fact: Florida voted to stay on daylight saving time year-round back in 2018. It only kicks in if Congress allows it.
The House passed it 308-117 in July. The Senate never voted.
So we keep falling back. Florida tried.
Florida college football Saturday in two headlines:
Miami survived and stayed No. 1.
FSU fans crowdfunded $3,500 for a plane banner demanding the coach get fired, and misspelled his name.
Let me explain 😂
Miami 38, UNC 35 in Chapel Hill. Bill Belichick's Tar Heels recovered TWO onside kicks in the final minute. Both got wiped out: first offside, then an illegal block before the ball went 10 yards. Miami recovered the third one and ran out the clock. Unbeaten. Still No. 1. Not pretty, but nobody asks how in December.
Meanwhile, before the Clemson game, a banner flew over the FSU stadium: "FSU: Fire Novell + Peter Collins!"
The coach is Mike Norvell. With an R. The GoFundMe raised $3,500.
Then FSU lost 36-24. The Noles are 10-21 over the last three seasons, and Norvell's buyout is about $50 million.
So fans paid $3,500 to misspell the problem, and the school would need about $50M to fix it.
Canes fans, enjoy this one. Noles fans, spellcheck first.
Dolphins vs. Patriots at 4:25 at Hard Rock 🐬
Miami is 1-5. Vrabel's Patriots are 4-3 and 7-point favorites.
But Miami has won 8 of the last 11 in this series, and 5 of the last 6 at home.
Vegas says blowout. History says trap game. I'm going with history.
Friday the Nasdaq had its worst day since June (-2.86%). My $1,000 AI trading bot? -$7.05 🤖
It owns zero AI or chip stocks. A stop-loss sold ZETA at $30.79 (bought at $33.97). Every position has a stop.
Account: $1,011.29. Still green. Week 3 recap Friday.
October just split the stock market in two 📉
AI stocks: down more than 13%.
The S&P 500 without AI: up 8%, to an all-time high.
And at Friday's close, Apple ($5.03T) passed Nvidia ($4.93T) as the world's most valuable company.
Here's what actually happened:
The October scoreboard:
Intel -45%
CoreWeave -38%
Alphabet -17%
Meta -15%
Nvidia -11%
Apple +4%
Tesla +13%
The Nasdaq fell 5.3% for the month, its worst since March 2025. The Dow? Up 1.7%. Same market, totally different month.
Why it matters to regular people like me: tech and AI make up about 45% of the S&P 500, per CNBC. So if you own a "boring" index fund, you're more of an AI investor than you think.
My take: this isn't the end of AI. It's Wall Street telling AI companies to show the profits, not just the spending.
Are you buying this AI dip or sitting it out?
Down 25 to the Lakers. Then Steph happened. 🎃
31 points, 8 threes, a crossover that dropped Luka, and a 112-95 win.
Per the NBA, Golden State is the first team of the shot-clock era to trail by 23+ after one quarter and tie it by halftime.
Still the scariest shooter alive. Agree?
The Giannis-era Heat started 0-4 and people were already writing the obituary.
Last night they dropped 145 on Indiana. 🔥
And it wasn't even the Giannis triple-double that got me. It was what happened in the 3rd quarter 👇
Klay Thompson walked in averaging 7.8 points a game and shooting 32% from three. (Miami Herald)
Then he hit 5 threes in the 3rd quarter alone.
25 points. 7 threes. 26 minutes. Welcome to Miami, Klay.
The rest of the box score:
• Giannis: 31 pts, 18 reb, 10 ast, his 2nd triple-double this season
• Bam: season-high 27 on 11-of-14
• 38 assists as a team, a season high
• 145 points, 8th-most in Heat history
• Final: 145-125
Stat for the history nerds: Giannis is just the 3rd Heat player ever with 30-18-10 in a regular-season game. The other two: Jimmy Butler and Lamar Odom.
And Klay is now 55 threes from tying Ray Allen for 3rd all-time. (AP)
Two straight wins. Next up: a 5-game West Coast trip, starting Monday vs. Luka and the Lakers.
Is this team for real, or did a short-handed Pacers squad make it look easy?
Black Friday is 4 weeks away, and stores are counting on you to panic-buy. 🛒
So before I buy anything big now, I make AI do the homework first.
Here's the exact prompt I use. Copy it 👇
Paste this into Grok, ChatGPT, or whatever you use:
"I want to buy [product] for under $[budget]. Give me:
1. The 3 best options right now, with model numbers
2. The lowest price each one has sold for in the last 6 months
3. The most common complaints in real owner reviews
4. Whether it usually drops on Black Friday, or if the 'deal' is fake
5. What add-ons to skip (extended warranties, bundles)
Cite your sources."
Then 3 rules I follow:
• Double-check prices on a price tracker. AI can get prices wrong.
• Match the exact model number. Some Black Friday versions are cheaper builds of the same product.
• Set a price alert and walk away. If it hits, buy. If it doesn't, you just saved money.
AI does the research in 2 minutes. You still make the call.
What's the big thing you're shopping for this year?
Harry Houdini escaped handcuffs, jail cells and locked water tanks.
He couldn't escape one thing, and it got him on Halloween. 100 years ago today. 🎃
The story is wilder than any costume you'll see tonight 🧵
The legend: days earlier in Montreal, a college student punched him in the stomach to test his strength, and that burst his appendix.
A new book by retired surgeon Larrian Gillespie blames a bowel obstruction instead, and says he died Oct. 30, not Halloween. (AP, WPR)
