Notes on France:
* The quality of bread here is incredible. So much better than what you get in the states, even at nondescript places.
* Likewise, the cheese and charcuterie I've had have been outstanding
* The pastries are very good, although not necessarily much better than New York at the top end. But the difference is how uniform the quality is - in Paris even dingy shops have very good croissants, while in New York you have to search for a good bakery.
* The actual classic French cuisine has been a disappointment. Went to a number of well-rated, non tourist restaurants and none were very good. Meats incorrectly cooked, sometimes strangely tough/chewy, and most dishes less flavorful than expected. Kind of bizarre and unexpected - I've had better French cuisine in NYC than in Paris. The food in simple cafes was better than in much nicer restaurants.
* Also! North African and Vietnamese food slaps here.
* Didn't see any protest action in person, but did see a lot of shops completely boarded up with plywood, and hilariously many of them had paper signs taped to the wood saying "We're still open!"
* There's a stereotype that Parisians are unfriendly, but I haven't found that to be the case at all. And I've been making a point to try to talk to different types of people.
* Paris is an S-tier walkable city. It's designed to be walkable, and there's interesting stuff to see and do all over the place. We did some classic tourist attractions, but some of my favorite days were just taking very long walks, shopping a little bit, and then when we got tired we'd find a cafe and read books and have a few drinks.

Reservas internacionales del BCRA: qué pasó en cada gobierno (2007–2026)
Comparé el stock de reservas al inicio y al final de cada mandato, con la serie diaria oficial del BCRA.
🔵 Cristina Kirchner (2007–2015)
45,6 → 25,1 mil M | −USD 20,5 mil M (−45%)
Llegó al máximo de su gestión en enero de 2011 (52,7 mil M). Desde la instauración del cepo en 2011, las reservas cayeron casi sin pausa hasta mínimos de 2014.
🟡 Mauricio Macri (2015–2019)
24,9 → 43,8 mil M | +USD 18,9 mil M (+76%)
Levantó el cepo en diciembre de 2015 y las reservas subieron fuerte con la salida del default y la emisión de deuda. El máximo fue en abril de 2019 (77,5 mil M, el récord de la serie). Tras la crisis de 2018, el préstamo del FMI y las PASO de agosto de 2019, perdió unos USD 33 mil M en pocos meses y reinstauró controles de cambio. Ojo: la suba se financió en gran parte con deuda.
🟢 Alberto Fernández (2019–2023)
43,8 → 21,2 mil M | −USD 22,6 mil M (−52%)
Mantuvo el cepo todo el mandato. Las reservas se movieron entre 38 y 46 mil M hasta 2022 y se desplomaron en 2023, con la sequía y la brecha cambiaria. Cerró en el mínimo del período (20,9 mil M en noviembre de 2023).
🟣 Javier Milei (2023–hoy)
21,0 → 50,6 mil M | +USD 29,6 mil M (+141%)*
Asumió con reservas netas negativas. El salto grande llegó en abril de 2025, con el acuerdo con el FMI y la flexibilización del cepo. El máximo fue en agosto de 2026 (50,9 mil M). *Mandato en curso, dato al 27/10/2026.
📌 Resumen
Cayeron con CFK (−45%) y con Alberto (−52%). Subieron con Macri (+76%) y con Milei (+141%).
Dos gobiernos con cepo terminaron con menos reservas que al empezar. Los dos sin cepo las subieron, aunque con deuda y FMI de por medio.
⚠️ Aclaración: es el stock bruto, no el neto. Incluye encajes bancarios, swap con China y financiamiento externo. Depende del primer y último dato de cada mandato.
