I used to be an alcoholic. I had no dreams or goals. I just thought I should learn to cook and either get a job at a restaurant or open a bar, so I enrolled in a culinary college. But I realized that path wasn’t for me and dropped out after half a year. I was still struggling with alcoholism at the time. I had acute hepatitis four times and hovered between life and death. Eventually, due to a certain incident, I came to understand that I shouldn’t drink anymore and I quit drinking. (Though I do occasionally have a light drink like beer.) I did like drawing. I’d always doodled, never had any formal training, but I enjoyed it. Still, I never wanted to make it my career. Both of my parents were animators and had worked on some well-known animations, but I knew animators didn’t earn much money. So I told myself I shouldn’t work in art. Then one day, I found myself wondering what else can I even do? That’s when I started drawing a dark fantasy comic in a medieval style that I liked. It only got a little attention, but it sparked something inside me. After that, I just kept drawing. Originally, I wanted to become a comic artist. I even made an amateur debut. But I wasn’t good enough drawing 60 to 80 panels per week for serialization was more than I could handle. (Still, I want to try again someday, when I’ve become someone I can be proud of.) After ending that series early after 20 weeks, I shifted my focus to social media. And now, here I am.
