Column by Netana Markovitz, MD | I’ve been tempted by whole-body MRIs, too.
But beyond just the lack of data, here are three other reasons I wouldn’t get a full-body MRI and don’t recommend them for the vast majority of people: wapo.st/4gQmMYV

The hard part is not the scan, but the cascade after an incidental nodule or "possible" finding in someone who felt fine and was low risk.
I have watched that path eat weeks or even months of anxiety and follow-up for a result that never changed management or outcomes.

On a lighter note, I had a blast last night at our first ever Boston heme/onc fellows happy hour! We had fellows from DFCI/MGB, BIDMC and BMC!

My mom passed away from lung cancer one month ago.
Balancing being a caregiver, family member and oncologist was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
I wanted to share some reflections on the experience. Thank you ASCO for giving me a platform to do so.
